distrikt hotel was second leg on our 25th anniversary tour of usa. the hotel was basic layout. the room was very nice and well kept. we stayed 4 nights, and spent most of out time in the city so the hotel was only a room to stay in. its location was adequate to where we wanted to be. the only thing was we had a resident tramp who enjoyed sleeping on the pavement outside. for us it did what we needed.
the bar was a little expensive

Room Tip: think most rooms would be the same

Thank you for your review of Distrikt. We regret that we did not exceed your expectations during your celebratory time in New York City. We empathize with the desperate circumstances that the city's homeless find themselves in, and when alerted of a person who needs assistance on our block, we contact local authorities who assist in helping them find a clean, safe and warm place to rest.

We spent only 3 nights in this fantastic hotel. Originally we booked another hotel, but browsing TA, we finally changed for Distrikt Hotel, which was a very good decision.

It has an unbeatable location, just 5 min walk from Times Square. Metro station is on the corner of the street, so everything is easily accessible.
Yes, we have read the reviews about that the street is a bit dingy, and there is a parole office there, etc. …. but believe me, it doesn't make sense at all.

Service was exceptional, helpful and friendly.
We asked our room as high as it possible, and they were ready to give us one on the 28th floor, with a fantastic view. Street noise was less than we excepted.

On the last day we decided to have our breakfast outside the hotel, but did not worth it all. The breakfast at the hotel is quite delicious, big enough and on reasonable price.

The hotel and the room was absolutely clean and well maintained.
We had no problems with the elevator at all (as some others commented it), but we were there in February, which is probably not the most peak season.

We asked a car service to JFK, which was just a little bit more expensive than the yellow cab, but worth it, as we had bad experience with the yellow cab drivers before.

We tried the boat trip from Pier 78 (grey line I guess) - that was amazing. It is just by the and of the street.
Another travel tip: flying from Europe, ask your seat on the right side (CDE seats, if I remember well), and you will see Greenland, fantastic.

We would not hesitate to return to this hotel next time !

Room Tip: Try to have a room on the upper levels for the fantastic view and for less street noise.

Having stayed in the Distrikt in 2012 I was in no doubt that I wanted to book the Distrikt again for my recent visit to New York and I wasn't disappointed. The location of the hotel 2 blocks south of Time Square and a handful west of Grand Central is ideal for seeing the island and beyond. Starting with our check in, we were met by a very friendly lady who welcomed us and checked us in with ease. Our room on the 29th floor was immaculate and we appointed. On our first evening, housekeeping knocked our door for turn down. We didn't require this however we did ask for more coffee and this was not a problem. On the first evening we went to the Collage Bar for drinks and nibbles, the complimentary nibbles were nice however the drinks were a little overpriced. I am sure if the drinks were more reasonable more people would remain for drinks and the complimentary nibbles would not be required to attract guest. $30 for 2 small glasses of white wine is not acceptable. This did not detract however from our stay and I would recommend the Distrikt to anyone looking for a great hotel in a great location in NYC.

My husband and I stayed at Distrikt hotel as part of our honeymoon trip to the USA, and what a gem of a hotel! Check in was quick, efficient and staff were so helpful giving us a tour map and pointing out some great places to eat and visit. Our room was on the 19th floor with a limited view- did we care no we didn't as you don't come to New York to sit in the room and look out the window! The room was very clean and comfortable and cleaned in a daily basis by housekeeping. On our first evening the staff sent up a beautiful cheesecake and personalised card congratulating us on our honeymoon which was an extremely thoughtful and personal touch. The hotel is very central- a stones throw from time square but far enough away to be slightly out of the hustle and bustle. Cocktails in the bar are lovely and very reasonably priced. We regrettably didn't try breakfast in the hotel. In the hotel lobby there is coffee and cool drinks to help yourself too which is a lovely touch. The home made lemonade was extremely refreshing after a hot and tiring day of sight seeing. I cannot fault this hotel at all and would not hesitate to book again when I return to New York. Loved it!

We stayed here for 5 nights and the location to Times Square and Broadway and everything else you want to see in NY was great. Granted the actual street the hotel is in is a little dingy but a short walk and you can be most places you need to go. The staff upon arrival were very friendly and the rooms are modern - if a little small - but well appointed. How much time do you spend in your hotel room in NY? Because there are only 5 rooms on each floor the hotel itself is very quiet. For the price I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

My sister and I stayed here to meet her friends from England for a few days. We were pleasantly surprised at the wonderful service we received. From the time we walked into the hotel, we were greeted by the doorman and the desk staff. Only a short 15 minute wait for our room as we arrived a few minutes early than check-in time. We loved the availability of the fruit-enhanced water of the day and the fresh lemonade available in the lobby. Very refreshing after a long day of travelling or even walking the city. The desk staff was quite nice and friendly, always looking to help us with whatever we needed during our stay. Our room was on the second floor of the hotel overlooking the front street. We loved the location as we were able to use the stairwell if we didn't want to wait for the elevator. The room was large enough for an NYC hotel room in that we were not on top of each other and laid out quite nicely. We loved the touch of a letter from the hotel greeting us and there were two dark chocolate brownie along side of it.The king-sized bed was extremely comfortable and I had wonderful nights of sleep during my stay. The bathroom was laid out very nicely and the shower was large and water pressure and temperature is fabulous. Nice LATHER bath products and the hair dryer is nicely powerful. We loved the Keurig to brew our Newman's coffee in the morning, we could also have had tea but would like to suggest adding Decaf to the selections as well as regular. One night we received a hand-written note/message from the desk sent us by our friend about meeting for dinner. It had the lovely little flower seal on the back as they seal all their communications as well as on the rolls of paper in the bathroom. Sweet little touch added by the hotel to service the customer. We were loaned hotel umbrellas which are by the way, quite fabulous in lightness, coverage and they do not flip in the wind. We were able to leave our bags at the hotel to hang around the city for the day and one of the staff quickly hailed us a cab for our departure. Everyone knew us by first name here and acknowledged us each day. We received complimentary breakfast each day due to construction on our building but it never disturbed our stay. The street noise is not very loud here, even being so close to Times Square, which is not far away. If you walk the opposite way to Ninth Ave./Hells Kitchen. There are less expensive but lovely restaurants as well. This is our first time staying in a boutique hotel in NYC and definitely will return. Thank you Distrikt for such a lovely stay!

Room Tip: Second floor was convenient for using the stairs instead of elevator.

Green Features: We couldn't be more thrilled about the green building as it is very important to us.

Everything was great at this hotel except the car service. Do yourself a favour and take a normal taxi back to the airport. The car service was more expensive- and the car was full of trash and obviously had not been cleaned for years. The door handles in the back of the car were broken too. The man was also became angry when I wanted to pay with card, something I was told by the hotel I could do.

A thank you to Hugo- who my daughter still remembers, and gave my daughter some little glass figurines that she has kept for the past year and is sitting on our book shelf all the way in Sydney. It's special people like him that make an ordinary stay, special.
