It was a perfect stay from our first contact with Monica via email to our checkout. Monica welcomed us and showed us around our room, gave us keys and assured us that she was there if we needed anything. The studio with its ten foot high ceilings, tasteful decor and comfortable bed was spacious, bright and fully equipped with modern appliances. We enjoyed having breakfast in the morning and often re-heated take-out from nearby gourmet grocery stores after a full day in NYC. Next time, we'll plan on trying the many small neighborhood restaurants. The subway was close by and we loved coming back to the upper west side. We stayed in one of the studios and had a peek at one of the suites. We would be tempted to stay in one of the suites which would be a little quieter, but we loved 4F and felt like home there. We appreciated the thoughtful gestures that were made such as a binder full of restaurant menus, brochures from museums, maps, coffee, fresh flowers and fruit. This is excellent value in comparison to a hotel room. The bathroom was small, but modern and clean.

Room Tip: If one person likes to stay up later, then a suite would be better for a little more. The suites in...

We stayed in August for 5 nights and enjoyed every one of them. The location is excellent, a quick 2 blocks to the subway, right near Central Park and the Natural History, and a pleasant stroll straight across Central Park to the Metropolitan (not to mention a Joe's Coffee a short block away - excellent!). The subway line is a local 1 train, so you can ride it to Time's Square, Lincoln Center, Greenwich Village, or take it to the end for Battery Park and the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, can also change just a few stops downtown to connect over to Grand Central Station. We used it frequently, a 7 day subway pass was the best deal for us. The brownstone itself was so charming and comfortable. Monica was away but Larry did a great job telling us about all of the local shops and subway/bus details, etc., and made sure we had his cell in case we had any questions or needed anything. We fully plan to return so we look forward to meeting Monica in the future. The kitchen was nicely stocked, Zabars is only 5 blocks away, and the Fairview grocery store only 8 for all of your gourmet needs (the cheese sections in both are amazing), there are also great little local groceries at either end of the block. We did eat out 2 nights, but chose to make a quick dinner with goodies from the Zabars and Fairview on the other 3 nights. We found ourselves out to sightsee by 9 am at the latest everyday, would get back to our lovely townhouse by 4 or 5, shower, eat and relax, then off to a show at 7 or 8. Being able to have a little down time between the day and the evening was a nice break, and again the subway back down to Times Square was a really quick ride. We loved everything about the suite and have already shared Monica and Larry's website with friends who plan to visit, it is the perfect home base for a stay in NYC.

We had a fantastic 4-night stay in June for our honeymoon. We couldn't have asked for a better home base for our visit. We stayed in the beautiful Suite 4R, which had a super comfy bed, a great little kitchen and charming furniture (and fresh flowers!). We just loved the character of the place; so much better than an impersonal hotel room!

The location couldn't have been more convenient: close to two subway lines, and walking distance to Central Park and the Natural History Museum, with lots of convenient shops nearby (including coffee and wine!), and we felt extremely safe and happy walking back every night.

Thank you to Larry who took great care of us. We hope to come back again someday soon!

We had a terrific stay at The West Townhouse April 14-21, the week the blossoms all came out!. We hit NYC that spring week in April when temperatures ranged from the low 70's to almost 90. And the week after I had badly twisted my ankle. But despite that problem it was a great week.

Everything seemed to come to life on Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues as well as Central Park. Monica and Larry's townhouse is a fabulous location from which to explore the Upper West Side, Riverside Park and Central Park. No problem getting to the Metropolitan Museum across the Park or to the Metropolitan Opera. The West Townhouse has easy access to the subway at West 86th Street, as well as several bus lines. Got to Battery Park, the High Line, the Tenant Museum and MOMA easily and were delighted to get back to West 85th St where life was a bit quieter. Great restaurants nearby - you can almost travel the world with the food choices available on Amsterdam Ave.

The Townhouse is very clean and most comfortable; we were in Suite 1. Best bed ever and very comfortable sitting room; though could have had a few more reading lamps. Kitchen was well-equipped with dishes and pots and pans and there are grocery stores nearby. We had our breakfasts in the flat and a couple of dinners. Definitely would go back. Monica is very gracious and always ready to answer questions or provide directions. Great place; highly recommend it.

We enjoyed our recent 6 night stay at Monica and Larry's brownstone on the UWS. 2 blocks from Central Park and 1 block in the other direction to the subway it is a perfect location for a NY visit.
Monica went out of her way to ensure that we were comfortable and well informed of the local shops and necessary details. The room was well appointed and met all our needs during our stay. Fresh fruit and flowers were a nice welcoming touch.
We have no hesitation in recommending the West Townhouse as the perfect spot. The next time we visit we will request a suite rather than a studio as we like our bed to be separate from the living area.

Room Tip: The suites are bigger than the studio.

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights, and loved every minute. The place is beautiful - very spacious, original artworks, high ceilings and a great kitchen. The bathroom, although small, was everything you needed and very clean. We could not fault the place in any way.

Monica took extremely good care of us, and was able to help us with information such as public transportation which we really appreciated. Her customer service was exceptional.

Finally the area is perfect. It felt a little more residential however still offered a variety of shopping and eateries nearby, and was only two blocks from central park which was awesome. We caught the subway everywhere even late at night and always felt safe.

Would highly recommend and the price is very competitive especially for what you get - I have heard of other friends paying more for hotel rooms which are cramped and very small.

My wife and I recently stayed for one week in a studio apt. Our studio (No 6) was a delight: spacious living/sleeping area with a luxuriously comfortable bed, adequate kitchen and stylish (albeit compact) bathroom. The whole ambience was enhanced by the inclusion of flowers and fresh fruit The whole place was scrupulously clean throughout. Monica is a charming hostess who spent an inordinate amount of time advising us on the delights of the area with a great many suggestions fore eating, drinking, shopping etc. all of which proved to be spot on. We loved the upper west side which had far more to offer than we had imagined prior to our stay. Central Park makes a great back yard.
