From the moment we checked in, we were made to feel special and welcome. The staff was friendly and smart. Getting into the entrance from Albany is a little tricky because the hotel is exactly next to Ground Zero. Seriously, the lineup for tours runs right past the front door of the hotel. Also, World Center Hotel is a combined property with Club Quarters and after the dual front desks, there is no actual separation of the two sides. World Center guests can use the awesome cappuccino/espresso/latte machine in the CQ lobby.
We were greeted by Franz at the front desk, a friendly guy with a great smile. He took incredibly good care of us and we felt like VIPs.
Our room was a corner suite with a massive wraparound balcony overlooking Ground Zero. We had multiple river views.
Just a few blocks away is plenty of shopping. Century 21 looks amazing but we did not go in. There's also an Urban Outfitters nearby. For a comprehensive grocery shopping experience, walk to Zeytuna at 59 Maiden Lane.
The 20th floor restaurant was great for breakfast and would love to return at night.

Room Tip: As for a terrace.

I travel on Business to NYC weekly and work on Water Street. This location is newer, has bigger rooms than most hotels in Manhattan and the staff is excellent (I often deal with Irene, Albert and Sophie.) For the price, the consistency of service and the experience of being at the World Trade Center, which never gets old, I highly recommend this hotel. Walking to Water Street only takes 15 minutes with a stop at Starbucks. So don't be intimidated by where it is. Water Street, Wall Street, it's all right around the corner. Even in the single degree digits, I was not tempted to move.

Room Tip: Superior size rooms are worth the extra money compared to Club or Standard.

The staff is excellent. They were friendly, helpful, and even gave us a room upgrade. The room was clean and bigger than I expected. We had a great view, too. Also, the rooftop restaurant/bar was nice, had a really pretty view, and had a nice happy hour. We didn't eat there, but the prices looked decent. There was a little construction around the hotel that made it somewhat noisy on the weekdays, but obviously that's not their fault and it wasn't anything horrible. Totally silent on the weekend. It's clearly more of a business hotel, being located in the financial district and all, but the location is still really nice. You don't have the noise from a lot of hotels closer to Times Square and it's a short walk from Battery Park, Ground Zero memorial, etc. There's also a metro stop close by. Really enjoyed our stay!

It's interesting, there are a couple really cool things about this hotel which I was really happy to discover: 1) Guest Request Closet where you don't have to bother housekeeping for extra room materials like towels or coffee, 2) Very affordable dinner on a terrace with an extraordinary view, 3) Available amenities like wi-fi, printing, iPads, and gym with no extra charge which is great in this age of nickel and diming.
BUT, then there's the flip side: 1) $40 penalty fee if you check out 1 minute after 12:30pm -- with no ability to have a courtesy 2) Elevators which operate by key no matter if you're in the hotel already or not. So you have to walk your friends to the front door, or they're forever trapped inside (security?) and 3) Food delivery means putting on your clothes and walking down to the lobby to get your food (which is not exactly delivery).
Would have been a great hotel if not for all the things that were annoying.

Stayed for two nights, Sat and Sun. Immaculate interior. Great location, right next to "freedon tower." Extremely friendly and helpful employees. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone. Very reasonably priced.

This was the perfect hotel for us! We stayed here Superbowl weekend and booked it at the last minute. We booked this room due to the set up of the room. We had a one room suite. This worked great since we had three adults and our newborn. The separate room with the pullout couch worked perfect for privacy and a place to put our baby to bed early.
We arrived on a redeye and called to see about early check-in. They offered us check-in as early as 7am for only $38! However, when we arrived they didn't actually have the room available that we had booked in our reservation. They still let us into a different room and then switched us to our correct room later that day. And for the inconvenience, they waived the $38 fee. This showed great customer service and was ideal in order to have a place to change and freshen up.
The bed was super comfortable with soft linens. However, the pull out bed in the couch was just okay. It had not been used in so long that the mattress had a huge lump in it from being stuffed in the couch. This lump did not settle in, requiring sleeping sideways in order to avoid it.
One other thing we loved about this hotel was the restaurant on the 20th floor. They offered a buffet breakfast everyday in a restaurant that overlooked the 9/11 Memorial. It was a great combination of hot/cold breakfast items. The only disappointment was that the coffee wasn't included in the price! Weird! We had to pay an additional $2.50 for a regular cup of coffee. Every buffet breakfast we have ever enjoyed included the coffee in the price.
Another great feature of this hotel was the water stations on each floor. It was so great to have bottled water everyday before we went out in the city and each night at bedtime.
The location of this hotel is in a quiet area away from a lot of noise and tourists. It is close to Century 21 - a GREAT discount store.
We would stay here again.

We visited NYC over New Years and chose to stay in the Financial District at the World Center Hotel. The hotel had a nice view of the 9/11 memorial and was within close walking distance of several subway stations. Staff was always friendly and the complimentary water bottles that you filled yourself were a very nice touch when we were heading out for the day. The beds were comfortable and the room was light.
