I would not hesitate to recommend the Flatiron Hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay in NYC. We had never been to New York and weren't sure what to expect, but found the Flatiron by luck and the nightly rate seemed very fair. (It was about $250 per night for the Toshi suite.) The hotel is in a great location - a block from one of the subway lines, and walking distance from A LOT of sights. Our room was very high tech with remote controlled window coverings and a television built in to the bathroom mirror. Cool stuff! The Toshi suite is a corner room with windows covering two walls and it was worth the little bit of extra cost because it was a lot of fun watching all the New York sights below us. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was well run and very clean. If we return to New York we will definately stay at the Flatiron again!

The best thing about the Flatiron Hotel (aside from the gorgeous fishtank that catches your eye the moment you step into the lobby) is just how unique it feels.

The room we stayed in was a tech-geek delight with remote control curtains, iPod dock, HD TV, complementary Wi-Fi, touch controls for the door signs and the much mentioned 'TV within a bathroom mirror' (which is just cool, no two ways about it!). A decent size, too. A clean, comfortable bed and a really nice shower unit sealed the deal.

The staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful. One day after an lengthy sight-seeing tour, we got back to find they had very kindly taken our luggage (lost at the airport for one day) up to our room so we had it waiting on our return. It's all in the little touches, and it was very much appreciated.

If you're looking to get out and see the sights, the Flatiron Hotel's location is really second to none. Close enough to the main sights and attractions of Manhattan, but far away enough to be a little haven at the end of a long days sight-seeing or shopping. Yes, you can hear taxi horns and sirens at night and the occasional rumbling of a subway train, but we certainly didn't find it unbearable by any means. Plus, you just have to remember this is NYC...

Tip: As it's a relatively new hotel, a number of the taxi drivers and shuttle bus employees looked puzzled when you gave them the name. Best to make a note of the address if you go out and about.

I'll be recommending this hotel to friends and family, and given that it's still in the 'soft opening' stage (although the bar adjacent to the lobby is now open and looks great) it can only get even better. Well worth a look.

We stayed at the flatiron for our recent trip & we had a fantastic experience! We stayed in a Madison park double which was plenty of room for the 4 of us. (2 couples). After reading prior reviews we did request a top floor, you still hear some noise from outside, but that's NYC. The staff was very helpful in helping us get around the city. The hotel was very updated with still a different retro look in the bar area. Our only complaint was that you cannot use the fridge in your room unless you want charged for the items in it, howeve they explain it all up front & you can request a 2nd fridge be placed in your room. Overall we loved it & would definitely stay there again!

I think the first thing we were all surprised with was the location of the hotel. We took the subway from JFK to get here and got off on 28th St. It didn't look like much but once we got to the hotel and headed towards 23rd, you see the beautiful Madison Square Park and Flatiron Building! The Flatiron is really a beautiful building and truly unique! Around that area is also the popular Shake Shack right inside the park, as well as Mario Batali's Eataly! There's no restaurant in the hotel itself so at least there are a couple of legit options around.

We had the Madison Double and it turned out to be one of the biggest hotel room I've ever stayed in for NYC. NYC is known for the tiny rooms, even with doubles, but this room was fairly spacious with two full size beds rather than the "queen" size bed that it states. Flat screen TV and a remote controls the curtains. The temperature can be set easily also. Beds were very comfy as we all got a good night's sleep. The room also comes with one of those iHome iPod/iPhone controls. The only thing about the room is the layout of the bathroom. Our room's wash stand was right in front of the toilet with little room to spare. Had to make sure we didn't touch the bowl when we were brushing our teeth :P

However, the showers were awesome. Swiss rain fall coupled with a few shower heads that shoots right at your body. The knob did fall off but I blame it on the Moen shower controls they use since I literally fumbled with everything until I found the right one. Took me awhile to figure out where the control was and how to turn the shower on. TV in the mirror is a nice touch!

Free wi-fi which should be great, but it is PAINFULLY slow. It got to the point where we all gave up on using the wi-fi for our phones and switched back to 3G.

Staff was very helpful!

Flatiron Hotel itself is quite good - even trendy - clean and its location is very good indeed. No breakfast is available; however there are several establishments quite next door. There is a bar and some kind of "club" next to the lobby but luckily the sounds did not reach my room.
Some street sounds and other quests' noise did not bother very much, but if you are a light sleeper you must remember that New York never sleeps.

My biggest minus goes to the service. It seemed that I forgot something behind in the closet when I moved on. I contacted the front deskby phone 4 times during the following 10 days and left my phone number twice, all in vain. There seems to be major information breakdown between the front desk and housekeeping and also between the morning and and later shifts. All I needed to know if housekeeping had found one lost item in the room I stayed at - how much detective work does it take? They were just not able to tell me simply YES we found it or NO there was nothing left behind. ( I may have misplaced the item somewhere else, I just did not find it anymore during my trip.)
The most absurd thing was when I informed the front desk that they should contact me at 2 pm at the latest on the day of my return flight, I got a text message at 2.30 pm that they will give me an answer "by the end of the day". So, no answer at all, thank you very much...

Location is great. The aquarium is beautiful. Staff for the most part are very helpful. We had the smallest room and that is very tiny, shower jet was wonderful.

They held or bags on our last day there, they provided us with plastic spoons and got some ice (as there is no ice machine on the floors.

The business center is completely free and when we were there not busy.

All and all great experience.

This was our first trip to NYC and so glad we stayed at the Flatiron! The Toshi Corner Suites are so roomy and bathrooms are great. The hotel staff was so helpful, especially Steven and Alex. Steven suggested a great steakhouse for my daughter's 18th birthday dinner(Steak Frites) & helped us order tickets for 9/11 memorial. Great midtown location! Can't wait to visit NYC again and stay at the Flatiron. I have already recommended this hotel to friends who will traveling to NYC this summer.
