We decided to eat here because it looked amazing from the outside and was really busy. The atmosphere inside was nicely French inspired as was their menu. It had plenty of tempting choices, many of which were reasonably priced.

Our server was pleasant and we got our coffees in a timely manner. We ordered the smoked salmon breakfast and the mushroom, spinach quiche. Both were quite good actually. My biggest reason for giving this an "average" rating was that the side crossiant I ordered was stale and gross. It DEFINITELY was NOT French..... AND they charged almost $4.00. Wow REALLY?

Also too, be careful about 30 minutes after breakfast I was SUPER thirsty. So the quiche must be loaded with sodium.

This place always delivers on healthy, great tasting food choices. The jams and spreads for the bread are something to tastefully savor. The service was excellent and the atmosphere comfortable.

We were recommended by a local that Le Pain Quotidien was the best place for us non-Americans to visit for a breakfast that didn't involve hupcap sized plates of bacon, sweet syrups, and drip coffee. This restaurant delivered on that with a breakfast we are more familiar with - selection of breads and pastries, a selection of thick chunky fruit jams, and bowls of real espresso coffee.

The service was great although I suspect there were two waitresses fighting over our table at one point. Food quality was good. It had a rustic farm flavours and textures to everything and we enjoyed it.

The criticism that we offered is that unlike pretty much anywhere else we had eaten in the USA - the portion sizes here went the other way and were very very small. We were okay with that but not with the very very expensive price that cane with it.

Recommend: Probably but only when you want an expensive break from American fare.

We went there for lunch after a concert at Carnegie Hall. The location is great, It's between Central Park and Carnegie Hall. Food is very average. I ordered Curry Chicken Salad Tartine. I could not taste the curry nor the chicken, but it looked yellow. My son ordered Tuna Tartine and loved his. The price is not so average, around $12 per tartine. The portion is so small for my son, we went to Europe Cafe later for another sandwich.
