“Nice room, but be ready for Times Square”
Reviewed 8 February 2014

Comfortable, spacious room. Nicely appointed. Great bathroom with beautiful tile work. It's tall, so I had a great view. Can't go wrong with Todd English's food. Though, if you're a foodie, I'd highly recommend another of his restaurants, Fig and Olive, in the Meatpacking District. Beware that you are in the thick of the hustle/bustle of Times Square. This not the strolling Central Park, Woody Allen New York experience. This is crowds and "tourists." While not on the Square itself, it is only a block away, and you are also in the Theatre District. If that's the vibe you're looking for, you'll have an enjoyable stay.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night because we had a canceled flight and I'm so glad we did. The rooms were beautiful with great views and a super comfy bed. All of the staff were friendly and offered great suggestions for places to eat and see. I would definitely stay here again!

We were only in NYC for two nights and wanted to be centrally located in a hotel that we could rely on to offer a good night's sleep in at least 4 star comfort. I can't fault this hotel. The staff were attentive and friendly, the room was not huge but very well appointed with a comfy bed, quality bed line and wall to ceiling windows on two sides which gave views of the city that were worth flying for 25 hours to enjoy! It didn't ooze luxury but on the other hand, I can't fault anything..
I can recommend the ground floor bar for a tea in the afternoon or pre dinner drink, but the hotel breakfast was disappointing, certainly not worth the money due to lack of choice. Head across 8th avenue and try any of the diners. Your have a great b'fast and real NYC experience for one third of the price!
I walked all over town - to the Met, MOMA, shopping etc and the subway took us to the 9/11 memorial and everywhere else we wanted to go so easily.
Great stay!

Room Tip: As high as you can go! If you have the option to pay a small amount for an upgrade - do it!

My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel for a Christmas vacation in NYC and found this hotel to not only be a beautiful place to stay but also so convenient. We could easily walk to restaurants, shop, and take in the theatre. The rooms are a bit small, typical for NYC, but the views were spectacular. The bathroom was wonderful and large with a great shower. Every Intercontinental hotel we have ever been to (NYC, San Francisco, Austin) have been top-notch in every way.

Room Tip: Get a corner room for great views of the city.

I stayed at this hotel 1/20-1/24/14 while attending a convention at the Javits Convention Center. Many other reviews will mention how close this hotel is to the convention center. It is a great thing that it is within walking distance because I had to make a trek in the snow one night because all cab service was shut down due to a winter storm.

In terms of the hotel, the staff (front desk, and bellman) were very polite, welcoming, and courteous. The room that I was assigned was very modern and clean. I usually stay at Hilton properties when I travel, but was staying at this Intercontinental due to a group/convention rate. I was very pleased with my experience that I will definitely consider Intercontinental properties in the future as a result of this stay!

Spent 3 nights here for a trade show convention at Javits. Very nice property with above average size NY hotel rooms and lots of food and evening options very close by. Room was very clean and well stocked with everything needed. Staff was excellent and location is close to everything near Times Square and walkable to Javits, about a mile. Would definitely stay here again.

Visited recently and was pleased with location, restaurant and staff. However, if you are trying to get some work done at the hotel, its a challenge. Internet costs a minimum of $16 per day and printing costs extra as well but i couldn't find out as they couldn't get me 'signed on' to one of the work stations to print my needed pages. there was a 800 number to call when you have problems (staff said they knew nothing about it and couldn't help - really?) when paying this much for a room i expect a little easier time getting work done.

in the end, if you are looking for something convenient to Times Square to catch a show or visit New York, I do highly recommend this hotel. If you are going for business, i'd find a different hotel.
