Stayed for 3 nights - it is just right! The check-in was right. The room was right. The breakfast was right. The concierge was right. The cab was always there at the right time. We once in a while like to get floored by adulation but when you are on a business trip with meeting from 9 am till 730 pm followed by customary dinner you want a hotel which is just RIGHT - no shortcomings and no exaggerations (eg - a call from the staff on how is my stay). And the price - well suffice to say that I spend more in Singapore, London and even India (vacation locales). So even the price is RIGHT! Why 4 - well the view and that they do not have a executive breakfast for a quick bite and move on. Actually its a 4.45....

Return visit after more than a year's absence, and it's as delightful as ever. Clearly very popular with overseas visitors; like a little UN on the West Side. Stayed three days and everything was just smooth & easy. Front desk staff clearly on top of their game at this point. One absolutely cannot beat the location for a Midtown stay. The views let you feel the vibrancy of Manhattan, then it's but a short elevator ride to be right down it!

Room Tip: Higher is always better.

This was our second time staying at the Intercontinental Times Square. The last time we stayed there it was a brand new hotel and had been open for just a couple of months so we wondered whether it was still as nice and we were pleasantly surprised that it was! Everyone from the front door greeters to the bell hop and the reservation agents were very pleasant and well coming. We had the most knowledgeable concierge, I believe his name was Adrian, he did the most fantastic job helping us with the subway system and helping us get around.
The location of the hotel is very convenient to the Theater District. We went to two plays on different days, one at the Gershwin and the other Helen Hayes both within minutes walking. The room on the 22nd floor was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was modern and very clean. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay there again.

Room Tip: We have always had a very good experience at this hotel and all the rooms have been good.

This is definitely one of the nicer hotels in the area for the money. I just spent 5 nights at this property and I was quite pleased. I didn't need much from the staff, but when I did, they were quite helpful. The room size is very generous for NY standards. I only have one issue that I was not happy with the way it was handled. We stayed in a room on 23rd floor, for the view only. However, half of the window was beyond dirty. It really looked like someone had dumped a bucket of mud from the room above us. Basically, we only had half a window. And mind you, I flew there to spend my birthday with my sister, who flew from Germany to be with me. Once I brought it up to their attention, we were contacted the next day and by that night, I had an option to go to another room, equal to ours and for the same price. My sister and I were simply not willing to pack ALL of our things to just move to another room. We were offered a bottle of wine or a $40 credit. So I spent $1000 to stay there, looking outside from half a window and that's pretty much all that could've been done. Needless to say, I wasn't happy about that. We also had pretty much one of the worst locations on the floor. Our room was exactly across of the door for the janitor/service area. We had their door shut ALL night long, every night. We jumped up from our bed more than just one time! Again, location is great, but as a frequent traveler to NYC (going again this weekend), I don't think I'll be staying there anymore.

Room Tip: Make sure to locate the entrance to the service area on your floor first and be as far away as you c...

We stayed here for 5 nights for my sons 13th birthday and have scored this as average as its a pretty mixed bag of results
Pro's

- In our opinion the location is great, on the corner of 44th & 8th you are minutes away from Broadway and times square, about 10 minutes walk to Madison Square Garden one way and 15 minutes to Central park the other way, thought this was perfectly central.
- Bathrooms were large and well set out, great shower facilities and the room was really clean.
- Beds were extremely comfortable and made for a great nights sleep *
- Staff are efficient at check in, not friendly just efficient but they get through the queues of people well
- The Concierge were the exception in the hotel, extremely efficient and helpful even ringing through to a local store to check if they stocked childrens clothes

Cons

- On check in, we were given the keys and room number but the lady then went to service the next customer before even telling us where lifts/room etc were
- We asked before the trip for a quiet room and was given room 605* which was really noisy and faced onto the main road as well as having some sort of generator nearby which buzzed all night. I then asked to move the following day after having no sleep and although we were moved, there was no apology for the mix up or inconvenience. The 2nd room was room 447 much quieter (a little bit smaller) and really nice.
- I have a bug bear when you pay for 3 people and get 2 of everything e.g 2 cups, 2 robes etc etc (that said, we only had one of everything in the first room !!!)
- As it was my sons birthday while we were there, the hotel said they would send him a piece of birthday cake.....it didn't happen !
- This is a corporate hotel made for business guests, its functional for that purpose but very impersonal
- We had some parcels sent to the hotel prior to our arrival and told them it was hockey kit and they were fine with it, however they then mailed us to say they thought it was letters (?!?!?!) so would be charging a storage fee, it was a minor amount but still a faux pas on their part.
- There is a well stocked mini bar but beware of the things on display on top of the cabinet, we have stayed at many hotels and my son thought that the water was complimentary but when we checked we realised it was chargeable....at $9.50, they also tried to charge us for a bottle of wine which we hadn't had !!!
- Wifi is $15 per device per day which is pretty steep by most hotels standards

Overall if I was staying at this hotel for business I would be relatively happy but if you want to experience New York hospitality, this is definitely not the place.

We have complained and were told they would make it up to us next time we visited although lets be honest you don't make the trip from UK to NY that often. They credited my loyalty card with some points but about enough for 1/3 of the cost of the average rooms in this hotel......so doesn't even compensate for the first nights stay :-(

We stayed here for a weekend and really enjoyed the location and how short the walk was to Times Square. The restaurant inside the hotel was pricey as expected in New York but the food was excellent and better than most places we went to while in New York. When we go back to New York we will most likely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor and pick one with a view.

We stayed at the hotel on a Saturday evening. We arrived early via Metro North and went straight to the hotel to check our bags until our room was ready. Surprisingly, they had a room (it was only 9:30am and check-in isn't until 3:00). We were in the City for my son's birthday, they upgraded our room so we would have a great view of the city and also had a beautiful dessert waiting for him when we came back later to clean up for dinner. While the rooms are not large, they a comparable to other NY properties. The beds are extremely comfortable and the "rain" shower is very cool. Room was very clean and updated. Location is perfect, subway right outside and Times Square only a block away. You are close to all the action but far enough away for a quiet nights rest. The staff and hotel exceeded my expectations. We can't wait to return to New York for another night at the Intercontinental.
