“Faultless again”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2014

4th time back to this great hotel, great location and super friendly staff. CaVa brasserie scores again on cocktail and food service. I don't feel the need to look for a different NY hotel.
Had a great 6 nights , opt for a corner sky view or a park junior suite, the views are amazing.

I have always found the Intercontinental hotels good value for money and this modern hotel was no exception. The staff were very friendly and although my room was a bit on the small side it was modern and comfortable, had a good coffee machine and a wonderful view. The bar area / restaurant was always a hive of activity and the breakfast buffet good value for money. A good choice for NYC.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view as high as possible.

I stayed at the InterContinental for a Saturday night, after seeing a show. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The bathroom - particularly the shower - is quite luxurious. The staff was friendly and attentive. And our room service breakfast was delicious.

The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, and in a central location in Times Square. We stayed on the 20th floor(back of the hotel) but still had a nice city view. Our king size bed was extremely comfortable, enjoyed the gourmet shower. Will return and highly recommend!!!

Wonderful hotel with all the charm of a boutique property without any of the "we´re small so don´t expect full service" attitude. Solid recognition of frequent travelers and well laid out for both business and relaxation. Special mention for housekeeping employee (I think I was on 12) who actually offered to tidy up my room on a day when I had a late check out and was rushing back and forth with last minute shopping. There is a first for everything I guess.

The first thing you notice on arrival is that the doormen – don’t open doors, or take your luggage was this because we arrived on Suppershuttle and not a taxi and when you find the reception, which is behind three large pillars, you miss the Ambassador desk, cunningly hidden to the Left . The Concierge desk, is cunningly hidden to the right, and looks like a guest library, until you spot the desk sign.

Fortunately, there was no queue at the reception desk, and the check in was friendly and professional. I was advised before the visit, when I enquired on executive lounge and upgrade policy, that they did not have an executive lounge (and that reward nights did not count to the guaranteed upgrade – which I question as the web site, makes no such restriction). Anyway as promised we had been upgraded to a corner room. I have learned to ask what upgrade could be paid towards and was informed the hotel was fully book.

We took our bags to the room; there was no offer – saved the tip.

Room 2625 is on the 26th Floor, and has been designed by (insert your favourite occupation) for someone who is clueless. The room is well appointed, but in a corner room, why have a 42 inch plasma on a desk at the foot of the bed, completely obscuring the view out of the main window.

Trust me the only reason guests watch TV in bed is that the view is poor, or the bed is it for things to sit on. This room had a small easy chair and an executive – office chair and a funny stool come bag rest. Lots of plugs (all American).

The toilet / shower room (no bath) was fine (however the shower being overhead not very helpful for my wife… who used the provided shower caps but they kept being removed when she had used them but not always replaced… eventually she had none so getting a shower and keeping hair dry was made difficult .. you don’t always realise this till getting to the shower. Towels, bed bedding what you expect of this brand.

We stayed a week and in that time the main entrance door we used (avoiding the revolving door at times) was opened once and then only one of the two.

We used the friendly concierge to book the Statue of Liberty / Ellis Island trip. Skip the queues – only the one to buy the tickets. We learned that there is a free boat ferry that goes passed – with cold Beers (from Frank). Subway is fine and the Metro card (one between two worked well).

Frank was the Guide on the Green New York Tours Bus. So good we never did the hop on off, but did the whole of downtown, richly narrated by Frank. I shall write it up.

We took room service one night, expensive, but impressive.( the trolley we had room service on was however left outside our room all night and most of the following day eventually being moved after four pm… ) not exactly guest friendly as we all had to negotiate past it as it slowly moved along the corridor The final Night we ate in Ca Va restaurant – fix price menu – filling food, and decent wine…. Lacklustre service

The room was always well cleaned – thank you. As we left on the shuttle – the door man put the baggage in.( which caught us by surprise as it was the first bit of Service we had had re the luggage.) Sorry no tip, we had little cash left – but a thank you to the doorman.

Supershuttle – rattled us there and back, cheap, but next time I want to try the train!

Dear Diskdr:

Thank you for being a loyal InterContinental Ambassador and for your detailed feedback! We are pleased that our concierge made your stay a memorable one. We apologize that your arrival was not as smooth as it should have been. We thank you for your feedback regarding the room layout, and we will discuss this in our next quality meeting. While the plugs in the guestrooms are American, guests may call our Instant Services department at any time to request an international adapter, as we keep a supply on hand. We hope to welcome you back in the future, so that we may not only meet, but exceed your expectations.

Everything about this hotel was amazing. We got there really later and got upgraded to the penthouse. It was 2 stories and had breathtaking views. Everything was so clean and well kept. the room had 2 bathrooms and even a full kitchen. the living room was was glass all around. if you are going to stay in NY, this is the place to stay. The front desk specialists were amazing especially Ashley Erickson. Steven was also very friendly and we all had a great time. Best customer service of any hotel and a great location. views are exceptional.

Room Tip: if you have the money, definitely splurge to get the penthouse. you wont regret it
