My partner and I were recently in NYC over the Christmas holidays, both from Ireland.
We thought it would be nice to pop into an Irish Pub on the trip so booked on Opentable for Connolly's.
On arrival we were 'greeted' by the hostess who gave two menus to a waitress and barked at us to "Follow her" before turning and walking away. We were seated in the isle next to the kitchen despite there being other seats available and had waiters bumping past us for the first 10 minutes that we were there. We asked if we could move table and had to do this ourselves, which is fine if we has been told pleasantly.
The food matched the service really, I ordered a pint of Heineken and got a small glass of the worst Heineken I have ever tasted. It was very obvious that the pipes had not been cleaned in a long time. I got the Gaelic burger which had a stale bun and burnt burger. For desert we asked for the brownie which was again stale and had obviously been heated in a microwave.
With the number of restaurants available in and around Times Sq. I would definitely recommend avoiding this place, take it from an Irish couple, this place is not worth the trip. On top of this they try to avoid checking people in through Opentable, don't know if this is to avoid paying Opentable but I had to deal with emails from Opentable to rectify this.
