“China Town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2012

We had a great time. teenagers were not sure about venturing out in the rain to sample Chinese cuisine, we were late due to weather-slowed traffic, but our guide came back and found us. It was like we never missed a minute, rain was no deterrent. Experience was fantastic. We learned about China Town and enjoyed the food.

“Fantastic & informative -a 'must do'”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2012

This was our first trip to NYC and we decided to do the midtown tour. Our guide, Garratt, was fantastic with a great depth of knowledge about the city. He not only shared with us information regarding what we could see above the ground (i.e. the buildings), but also what was below us (e.g. the train system under Park Ave) and how the city was built. I genuinely feel that I would not have had such an appreciation of the city if I had just visited these sites using a guide book.

Throughout, Garratt was conscious of ensuring that all members of the group could hear. He was happy to answer questions that anyone had. He was also respectful of the fact that the group should not obstruct the general public and ensured that everyone in the group stayed together.

We paid a $20 dollar tip per person. We thought that this was more than reasonable for the experience we had (but please note, there was no pressure whatsoever to pay any particular amount).

The ONLY disapointing thing was that we did not have enough time in NYC to take another Free Tour by Foot. Next time we go, we are going to book a couple of them as it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you so much Garratt and Free Tours by Foot.

“Fun, interesting and educational!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2012

I have been to NYC many times but have never taken a tour so we opted for the 6 hour All-In-One tour. Steve our guide was knowlegable and took us through parts of the city we had not ventured to before (China Town, SoHo, Little Italy, Greenwich Villiage, Chelsa Market, Financial District, etc). Steve highlighted architectural features, shared interesting historical information, pointed out businesses/apartments of famous people or featured in popular movies and TV shows and overall gave a fabulous tour. I think next time we will take the two hour tours in each neighborhood so that we get a more in depth tour of the different areas. The 6 hour tour was a good overview of them all for starters and absolutely worth any $$$ they could have charged. Highly recommended for anyone who can do the 6 hours of walking, an excellent way to see the city! Thank you to our guide STEVE!

“Both private and free tours were amazing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2012

This private 6 hour tour wasn't free, but was well worth the price we paid (275.00). We met Robin at Grand Central Station by the clock, and then embarked on the walking journey of a lifetime! This was our first time in New York. It was just my mom (72) sis and I (both in our 40's). Yes, we had aching legs by the end of the day, but the tour was well worth it. We rode the subway for the first time, got to hail cabs as New Yorkers do, take a picture with the NYPD, SOHO, Little Italy, China Town, Greenwich Village, Washington, Park, Wall Street, World Trade Center, and at the end she walked us to the Staten Island Ferry where we went (for free) across with river and saw the Statue of Liberty. Such an amazing day. Forever will be a highlight of our lives!

Next day we took the free tour of Central Park (2 hrs.) and this tour was just as great. Central Park Zoo, carousel, Strawberry Fields, simply wonderful. Our pictures at Central Park came out fantastic!

We visited during last weekend of April 2012 so Springtime weather was awesome!
