“An excellent value in a great area of Manhattan”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

The rooms are stylish and incredibly quiet and the restaurant is first-rate. Near the hotel within easy walking distance are 20-30 superb restaurants on very beautiful streets. A wonderful place to stay in Manhattan.

Great hotel for a great price. Room was clean and well finished. A couple funny things though. The shower had a window that faced the street, so if you got in before the glass fogged up, your body was fair game for the building across the street. No curtain on that window. Also, there was a window between the shower and the room itself. That's fine but the curtain for the shower was controlled from the room, not the shower. Which means your roommates/family could pull the curtain to the side and see you in all your glory. Lastly, if you valet your car, call the number on the ticket yourself. We called the desk as we were walking back to the hotel on a tight timeline, but the hotel staff didn't call the valet service for another 17 minutes. So we got stuck in more rush hour traffic than we would have if we had just called the valet ourselves. Overall, we would still go back to this hotel. Of course we don't have kids who could pull the curtain to the shower to peak.

We stayed here for three nights in August after coming off the Queen Mary 2. We're both professionals in our late 20's and early 30's (so not Hipsters) and we found that the Nolitan delivered the perfect base in NYC for us.

From the incredibly friendly team behind the front desk through to the brilliant 'in-room dining' all of which can be ordered through them and brought to your room (apparently without a charge because you just pay 18% standard gratuity). That was one of many highlights and was so good that one day we just stayed in bed and ordered Chinese for lunch and then a Meatball Pizza for dinner, only venturing out for drinks well into the evening!

The rooms have everything in them (including bathrobes), speakers etc. The see through shower which divides the room was fun. Although if you aren't romantic with the person you're sharing with, it probably wouldn't work for you! Either way they sensibly put the toilet in a separate room because unlike some hipster hangouts a dividing screen is not enough and in my humble opinion a big step too far. There was a cool balcony where we drank the complimentary wine/champagne they offer you each night in reception and listened to music while we got ready to hit the town. Overall it was just a very cool experience and perfectly suited to what we were doing in NYC (which was having fun!). As I said the staff were all incredibly friendly people and not 'too cool for school' types. Overall one of the best stays in one of the best parts of Manhattan. We'd definitely come back, maybe even in winter just so we have an excuse not leave the room and order takeout again, great, great pizza area and Chinatown on your doorstep what more could you want?...

This was a return visit as it made such an impression last year. It's difficult to say which is most impressive, the hotel or the neighbourhood. The hotel does however really suit the area. Rooms are minimally yet very tastefully furnished with a good sized tv, comfy chair and I also opted for a room with a balcony and was lucky to be on the 9th floor with an amazing view including Empire State, midtown etc. simply wonderful. Since Kenmare St can be quite noisy, I do think it is worth requesting a room on a high floor not just due to the views. Room (and rest of hotel) was very clean and it is worth heading to the rooftop too to get the amazing views. Free wifi worked perfectly. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. It is worth popping to the cheese and wine (5-7 every day I think) as it's a nice way to start the evening. Although there wasn't a great choice of food ( probably because I had been totally spoilt during my first days in the city in another hotel where cheese and wine is also offered), it's definitely a good touch and I know some guests took their drinks up to the roof. I didn't eat in the hotel's restaurant this year as there is so much choice in the neighbourhood anyway. All in all a great stay in such an interesting part of the city.

Room Tip: Aim for a room on a high floor. Rooms seem pretty well soundproofed though anyway.

Everything was great! The location is perfect to visit NY, The hotel and the room are lovely and very stylish! The shower is fun. The view from the room (we were on the eight floor) and from the terrace is amazing! The staff is friendly and we appreciated the fact that they rent bikes.

Room Tip: Room 803 is very nice. The view is amazing. Though, according to the map of the floor it's the s...

The first thing that comes to mind when you step into the Nolitan is how city chic it is...The styling is cutting edge, and feels like your stepping into the pages of Architectural Digest.
The service is fantastic with a very helpful staff that is always smiling, warm and inviting and anticipates your every needs; and their recommendations for places to eat or visit helped us see a side of NYC that only locals know (I can't say enough how outstanding the staff was).
The rooms like the hotel itself are modern, unique and clean, while still maintaining warmth and comfort... (you know, the kind of room that you don't want to leave).
My wife and I had the corner room on the 8th floor that offered us a spectacular view of the city with the Empire State building directly in our sites.
While at the hotel make sure to visit the rooftop at sunset…spectacular!
The Nolitan is at the heart of Little Italy, Chinatown, and SOHO and really did give us a different side to the city, and my wife loved running in the morning from the Hotel over the Brooklyn Bridge and back (about 4 mile round trip).
Would I recommend the Nolitan…ABSOLUTELY!!!

After the reviews we were so excited to stay at the Nolitan. I had stayed at Trump Towers in Soho and wanted to stay in that location. The Nolitan was nothing short of amazing. From the location, the staff. Nothing could be faulted. I don't usually write reviews but we were so very impressed by everything about this place. Can't wait to go back. The rooftop is amazing. Tip is go to the bar downstairs and get yourself a cocktail and take it up and take in the beautiful view.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and get the cityview.
