Had a three night stay in a large one bedroom suite. Service was excellent and all the complimentry items were a bonus. The restaurant was a little pricey but the food was exceptional. Would not stay anywhere else in NYC.

Perfect from time of check in to check out. Staff was very professional, helpful and all smiling. The rooms are well appointed, very modern and very clean. Met all of our needs. Breakfast was "anything you would like" and no extra charge for room service. Location is great, walking distance to everything. Definitely would stay there again .

this was my best hotel stay in NYC ever (exceeded my previous favorite, Sofitel) .. really was a 5-star in my book, but priced as 4-star

pros:
- innovative lobby & front desk design
- liked the entrance (fashionably obscure) on a very busy block
- high-quality & attentive service (almost overstaffed)
- Splash Suite was amazing !!! huge room with amazing views (EMpire State building & New York Pubic Library) ... really loved the high-ceilings
- modern furnishing & design
- usual high-quality hotel standards ... cleaning, guest services, room service, etc
- location is very central but sufficiently removed from bad toursit locatsions despite being on 41st (i.e. Time Square, Grand Central)

cons:
- aircon blows directly on the bed in our room, so gave me a head cold ... but otherwise, really nothing wrong that i can think of

overal, this was a really fantastic hotel all around

Everything, but everything about our experience was superb, from check-in to check-out. I was traveling with my two sisters and we stayed at the Andaz 5th for a night prior to a cruise. When they heard (and saw) that my sister was recovering from serious surgery and was wheel-chair bound, they upgraded us to a lovely suite. Every single staff member went overboard for us, always calling us by name and wishing us well.

Because the heat was so oppressive, and because of my sister's condition, we mostly hung out in the suite. Trust me when I say this was THE place to hang out! All non-alcoholic items are gratis, large flat-screen tvs. . .just lovely amenities all around.

I called that evening to request a late check-out, and even though the hotel was very full, they quickly obliged my request. An hour or so later, there was a knock on the door and there was a delivery of gourmet goodies from Renee Goodman, our host and Ramon from guest services with good wishes for my sister and "because we had been so nice!" Because we had been so nice?? Wow.

I have never been treated so well. I'm at a loss about any of these other negative reviews on Trip Advisor. I simply can't imagine.

Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this fabulously located, very hip boutique hotel next time you're in NYC.

NYC is a spectacular city as those of you who have been will know. There are numerous chains of hotels all over the city, all very dated but still quite plush. Then you find the Andaz 5th Avenue, a boutique hotel. You think hmmm, the service may not be as good or the rooms will be sufficient purely for a clean bed for th night. Wait till you get there! The staff were as responsive as can be, on hand to assist, recognised you throughout your stay and were always offering their services with huge smiles on their faces. Not the all American smile of 'Have a nice day' through somewhat gritted teeth. No no no, they were genuinely happy to be a part of the Hyatt brand and so they should be. I had an amazing stay, the location mid town is perfect and accesible to the whole city and the hotel itself, well! On another level. Clean, modern, quirky, contemporary and yet had its own charm which I believe to be a huge part of the Hyatt brand. I work in travel and have stayed in many an amazing place but this is definitely one to remember. Well worth whatever they charge. I am definitely going back! Also to note, the food was pretty good too!

We were supposed to stay at the new Lex 48 but our reservation was canceled 10 days before our trip due to the fact that the Lex 48 was delayed opening, so, we were moved to the Andaz with the assurance that an upgrade, due to our inconvenience, should not be a problem. After waiting about 15 minutes for a "host" to notice us at check in, we inquired about the upgrade and our male "host", told us the hotel was sold out so there was nothing he could do, although when we checked online we saw that there were still rooms available. So, we tried to make the best of our room. However, we found it quite noisy and uncomfortable, as well as dark. The next day, we made our problems known and the mangers Loren and Daniella were not helpful, the only alternative given was a room which did not fit our needs and looked directly onto another building, (we requested a quiet room with a view). So, we were stuck in the noisy room for another night. To top it off, someone removed our do not disturb sign from our door in the middle of the night. Finally, for our final night, I contacted the GM who moved us to a beautiful suite. There was no problem with that room but I do not feel that our needs were properly addressed by the staff during our first 2 nights there, so rather than relax and enjoy our vacation, I was on the phone with hotel staff much of the time trying to get our room changed. John, in guest services also provided inaccurate information in regard to things such as check out procedures and did not appear especially caring or helpful when we encountered difficulty. They need to make the rooms more comfortable and look into better sound proofing as well as work on their customer service.

Room Tip: Try to book a suite since they are the higher/quieter floors

Dear Ij997,

I'm sorry you had a disappointing stay with us and you felt that our staff did not truly empathize with your situation and offer much assistance. We want you to know that this is not acceptable to us and hope you will contact me directly so that we can further discuss.

Warm Regards,

Connie
