As I was staying in the Carnegie Hill neighbourhood, this popular little cafe became my 'local' for take away soups. The weather was seasonably chilly as it was close to Halloween and to ward off the cold, a lunch time soup was the answer. Each day they had a choice of 3-4 varieties and not knowing which to order I asked if I might first taste one - 'No problem'. This turned out to be a wise decision, as some soups are delicious after a sip, but far too rich when you buy an entire container. Yura also has a wide selection of salads, breads, pastries and sandwiches, which given the queues, are very popular. Be warned, early mornings are hectic with hoards of Upper Eastside mummys and children all fighting for their croissants and coffees. For a more peaceful visit, try later in the day. One other word of advice, service can appear to be brusque, the staff know they have to be quick and have no time for small talk. Have your money ready as you stand in the queue and be ready to be served quickly once you reach the till. Napkins and plastic cutlery are available for takeaway orders, although there is limited seating in the cafe if you do not mind crowds.

neighborhood haunt with good, reliable food but it's not cheap and the mornings can be packed with moms and kids so you might have to wait for the limited seats.

We were early for a museum on a cold December day. We walked around looking for a coffee and found Yura. Got coffee and pastries. Luckily we found a table to sit down. Not too many places to sit but perhaps locals just come and buy takeout. We enjoyed our snack - pastry was yum and coffee was better than Starbucks. Great place for a snack. But try not to get a table in front of the door. There is a lot of traffic!
