Stayed here for 4 nights . Got a great rate on Priceline so couldn't change the room from a king to two doubles unless we paid an add'l $50 per night or $100 per night (depending on who you asked ..reservations line said $50 , front desk said $100 when we checked in ). We kept what we had but he did move us to a corner room which was larger. Based on previous guests reviews we opted for a lower floor so we could take the stairs during peak elevator times. Views mean nothing to us when you're only in the room to sleep, so opt for a lower floor for convenience. Breakfast was free, but set your alarm to go early for a good selection. There's a tray in your room (under the coffee pot) use that to bring breakfast back to your room as seating is limited in the breakfast area. With the mini kitchen we could toast our bagels in the room and made oatmeal in the microwave. Convenient and less hassle than trying to find a place to sit downstairs . A lower floor comes in handy when transporting breakfast back to your room too :-) Front desk and concierge always very helpful with providing directions and restaurant suggestions. Two blocks from the bus terminal if you're taking the bus shuttle to the airport , close to Times Square and the Theatre district. Shake Shack and Cake Boss a couple of blocks away. Quiet area , our room on the 6th was very quiet , no street noise as we were facing the bus depot . The bed was super comfy , bath amenities were nice and non carpeted floors was a welcome change from grubby hotel carpet. Would definitely go back again.

We choose The Element blindly and were pleasantly surprised. The room was rather small but clean and had all the conveniences of home. If the availability to the elevator is a concern, ask for a lower floor. We were able to walk the five floors quicker than it took to get an elevator.

Spent an enjoyable 2 weeks here within easy reach of most attractions. Good room with fridge, sink and stove, fair view of the city on the 32nd floor and friendly helpful staff. Minor quibbles are a very overworked lift system during peak demand with lifts whizzing past you several times resulting in me using the stairs several times rather than wait 5 more minutes. The breakfast selection is weak bland and after 4 days unpalatable (breakfast biscuits with bacon and cheese and hot potatoes bits are common highlights) but you can go to many places close by for decent coffee and food.

Room Tip: Go as high as possible - the noise from NYPD or NYFD or ambulances can be deafening even with windows closed at 32 floors up

As New York City hotels go, Element Hotel is probably an average property with smaller-than-average rooms and less-than-average services (no concierge, questionable security). I stayed there two nights on a recent business trip due to its proximity to the Times Center. On the plus side, the room was clean and adequate. It included a microwave and apartment-sized refrigerator, which was a surprise. And the bathroom was clean but small. On the other hand, the elevators are horrible. I was stuck on my floor watching the elevators pass by my floor as I became later and later for my appointment. When an elevator would finally stop on my floor, it was jam packed with other guests, all equally annoyed by the sketchy service. It's one thing to hang around waiting for an elevator when you're on vacation (although just as annoying), but quite different when you're on business travel and need to be somewhere at a specific time. Secondly, there is no security in the building. Anyone can get on an elevator (getting one in the lobby is easier) and go to any floor at any time. I returned from dinner shortly after midnight only to find a man on a cell phone standing outside my door located in an alcove of the hotel. I walked the other way while calling a relative so I was on the phone when entering my room, in the event there was an issue. I immediately called the front desk to complain - after locking my door - about the lack of security in the building. The desk clerk wasn't at all alarmed, but agreed to send someone to "check it out." It didn't instill any confidence in their ability to deal with a potentially dangerous issue. Bottom line: Paying a little more for a room with building security is worth the extra money. And this hotel wasn't cheap!

Room Tip: Make sure the elevator situation is fixed if you decide to choose this hotel.

This hotel is exactly what you expect from the Starwood family of hotels. Modern, conveniently located, this is a good option for the business traveler who is at the Javitz convention center, or the tourist who wants to be near Times square without the noise and chaos of Times square.
Small, modern rooms, well appointed. Nice large shower with nice bath products, nice towels.
Breakfast was included, but was very crowded (I did go at peak hour). Smoothies were a nice touch. Happy hour snacks are also provided gratis. Chips and salsa the evening I popped by.
Sushi at the restaurant across the street per the recommendation of the concierge was delicious and reasonably priced. II recommend this hotel for those on business at the convention center.
