“Nice hotel, great location, but noisy.”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

I stayed at the ROW with two friends this past weekend. The hotel is nice and modern and in a great location just one block west of Times Square. The staff are very nice and attentive. The room was clean and had a good amount of space for a downtown hotel. The only negative is the noise. I had seen other reviews stating the same thing and they were right. We were on the 10th floor, facing 8th Avenue. Most nights we had to sleep with ear plugs in because of the street noise and on Friday and Saturday night the bar across the street has a live band and we could hear every word they were singing. They need to install more sound proof windows. I stayed at the Marriott Marquis last June, which is right on Times Square and did not hear any noise. Other than the noise it was a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on a higher floor and that doesn't face 8th Avenue. It would be quieter.

We were in NY to visit our son and stayed at Row NYC. The hotel is decorated beautifully and is very fresh and clean inside. Don was very helpful when we checked in . . . very courteous and fast. The restaurant is nice and spacious - lots of seating . . . quick service in the morning for breakfast and a nice spot in the evening for coctails (thank you Jonathan and Megan!). Overall, a very pleasant experience!

The hotel was a great spot for my first trip to NYC. It was reasonable in price compared to other hotels in the area. There was a subway stop a block away and it was about a 15 minute or less walk to most attractions in the area. It was a little noisy, but nothing unexpected for the area. Overall it was a great stay.

You won't be disappointed by booking this hotel for your city break. We spent 4 nights at Row NYC over Memorial Day weekend.

This hotel has been recently refurbished to a modern standard and is clean. All staff are friendly and helpful and clearly want you to enjoy your stay.

We had snippets of views from our room across Times Square and also the various skyscrapers.

The was certainly a good trendy buzz at this hotel, with the bar area being busy in the evening and some musicians too.

The free Wi-fi was the quickest that I'd used in a hotel before (and they also have several computers to use in the lobby area should you not bring your own device - F.O.C. of course.

If you are travelling from the UK I would highly recommend flying with American Airlines, their service is second to none in economy class - if you can also try and fly to LGA airport, rather than JFK - it's closer.

Also, check out Smith's bar across the road for a relaxing drink (Irish Bar) and the Jekyll and Hyde Restaurant around the corner (a haunted themed restaurant - also open during the day)

We have been back just a few days and I'm already looking at booking up straight away to go back in a few month's time.

The only area of improvement that I could suggest to this hotel is for there to be a kettle in the room, or even a fridge so that guests can bring their own drink and keep it cool, ready for the morning. :)

It's a great location, that can't be denied, but they aren't catering to the business crowd. Don't expect quiet in the hotel (outside it's NY so never expect that…) When I was there it was full of teens and tourists - all of whom can afford to be up late & loud. The room is clean and fairly roomy, but absolutely zero counter space in the bathroom which I think is just mean. Not even a shelf! I could only put my toiletries in the sink when getting ready in the morning. If you're on vacation, this would be a fine place and probably ticks all the boxes. For business travelers who need more piece of mind in the evenings, and maybe a tad more of the basics, this probably isn't your spot.

Room Tip: Make sure you're high up - and ensure you ARE NOT put above the massive fan system (the rooms su...

Dear HMason22,

Thank you for reviewing our hotel. While I wish your experience with us hadn’t been so mixed, I greatly appreciate your candor. I regret that we were unable to accommodate you with a room that better met your needs. Unfortunately, during times of high occupancy—like those experienced during your stay—we must utilize all available guestrooms which come in various sizes and layouts and, accordingly, can have differing fixtures in the bathrooms. Please allow us the opportunity to host you again as I am more than confident that we can provide you with the seamless stay you both deserve and expect.

We recently stayed a week in New York for a vacation. We found the hotel to be in a great location close to Times Square and the perfect place to explore from. The room was clean with good air conditioning. It was not a large room but it had everything we required, besides we we in New York and were there was no way we were going to spend time in the hotel. The hotel is a busy place, it had live music in the bar which was a nice surprise.
We were on the 15th floor so heard no street noise.

Stayed 27th-1st may beginning of our honeymoon. Amazing hotel in best location possible, stones throw away from busy Times Square easy to get around, outside hotel there is bus tours which is defo worth the money we got 72 hour pass which included free bike ride for 2 for 1 hour in Central Park.
Our room was basic but clean our tv signal would not work we rang reception & within minutes engineer came with new tv they offered us alternative room but we decided to stay as we were out & about, shortly after engineer came with brand new tv & installed it for us also reception offered us free breakfast following day which was lovely :)
Staff are extremely friendly & helpful & hotel is perfect. The heating in the hotel was perfect especially with the rain we had & had to dry our clothes 3x on day dried within minutes! We had high floor 23rd overlooking the front of the hotel views were really good & no noise.
All round fantastic hotel & location

Room Tip: High floor
