“A good choice on a budget”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

I ended up here last minute as I needed a location near NYT building. Very inexpensive for the location, but this is a budge hotel - it has been redone and is hip, but is still very basic and my room could have been a little cleaner. (Large sliding door in bathroom had a very dirty track, light switch was dirty.) TONS of tourists, as expected, a great mix of people from all over. But be ready for the crowds and a lot of young people. Despite the crowds, it was easy to get coffee in the morning and they had great juices and other breakfast choices. Very friendly staff. One piece of feedback I would give them is to lay off the scent/perfume piping through the lobby. It was so strong it was hard to eat breakfast.

We stayed there for one week and it wasn't a particularly pleasant stay. From the moment we arrived, we were treated by staff as though we were an inconvenience.
When we were given our room, we commented that the noise was very loud but were assured that it would quieten. It didn't. We understand the hotel couldn't help the roadworks going on right outside our room however the roadworks went until the early hour of the morning and we didn't get any sleep at all. The following day we were given another room on a higher floor however the ensuite was that tiny, there was no where to get changed, there was also no hooks to hang our towels or clothes.
The second morning we were in there we were woken by the fire alarm going off in our room. This was rather scary to be woken to so I called the front desk asking if there was a drill or should we be concerned. The lady I spoke with said she didn't know what was going on and would transfer me to another department. I then spoke with that lady who couldn't understand what I was saying. I kept telling her our alarm was going off as was the alarm in the hallway. She hung up on me. No one bothered to come and check on us or call our room so we went downstairs to the front desk and told the staff what was happening. They quite seriously stood there looking at us and asked what it was we wanted them to do about it. After yet again, being made to feel like an inconvenience, they agreed to get someone to fix it.
We also had to call and ask for toilet paper to be put in our room as we didn't have any.
We received knocks on our door from housekeeping at 12.30am waking us up only to be told they had the wrong room!!!
The level of service we received was shocking. The sheets were dirty, the hotel itself is very dark and the lifts were also playing up meaning only a couple of them were working so everyone was packed into very tiny lifts. There was also no room service provided or any coffee or tea making facilities! We were told the bar downstairs sold coffee but when we went down to purchase it, we were told they won't make coffee in the afternoon.
Considering what we paid for this stay I expected a much higher level of service!!!! Won't be coming back.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room up very high otherwise you won't get any sleep!!!!!

Dear Jodi W,

Thank you for sharing your review of our hotel, as it can only allow us to improve. I am beyond dismayed by the series of events that occurred during your stay with us. Firstly, I would like to extend my deepest apologies for the inconvenience you experienced due to road maintenance being performed by the City. I am relieved to hear you were able to move to a quieter room, but remain concerned that you faced such difficulty receiving any notice of our scheduled fire alarm testing. I too am beyond shocked of the level of service you experienced and would like to assure you these are most definitely not our service standards. I have notified the appropriate department heads and further examination on this matter is being conducted in order to prevent these issues from occurring in the future. We can only hope to have the chance to showcase the side of Row NYC we are exceedingly proud of during a future stay.

We found the staff to be very accommodating, the room to be clean and very comfortable beds. The lobby and the bar were great, and the location was outstanding. The room was smaller than most double rooms, but that's not unusual for a Times Square hotel where space is at a premium. The reality is that if you're in NYC, you're not there to spend time in the room - you're there to see the city. Our room was on a higher floor, away from the elevators, and we didn't notice any noise or other problems. Very enjoyable stay at Row NYC.

Room Tip: Higher floors away from the elevators are quieter.

Stayed here for four nights and had an amazing time!
Took my girlfriend on a surprise birthday trip and it couldn't have been better. Centrally located and literally a block west of Times Square, in the Theater District.

We had a double room on the 14th floor, the style and set out of the rooms are awesome. Our room wasn't massive and didn't have an amazing view, but that in no way affected our stay as we only needed a nice room to sleep and shower in, as we were out exploring NY most of the time. (And besides, if you travel to NY and want to spend the majority of your time sitting in a big hotel room and looking out the window at your view, then you are doing something seriously wrong!)

It's in a safe area and very centrally located. Staff were very friendly and room service was very good as well.

I would thoroughly recommend to anyone travelling to NY, and we'll definitely be staying her again!

Room Tip: I requested a room on a higher floor as I read that was a good idea in NY to get away from the stree...

Hotel is clean, lots of bustle as it is right near Times Square. Cesar took such good care of me and my girlfriend at check-in. She joined last minute and he was able to switch my room to accommodate us at no cost, even though I had purchased a special rate through Expedia. He also gave us a complimentary drink because we were having a bit of a tough time that day :) Its def not my area of NYC to spend time in, but it was a super busy weekend and i needed a place to crash that wasn't going to cost me a fortune. If i was in a pinch, I would come back.

We just spent the most enjoyable evening listening to the jazz sound of Fleur Seule at the Row NYC. The music headed by Allyson Briggs, was terrific, and the band and entire vibe of the place amazing!! We were so thrilled with the show, and could see that everyone was having a wonderful time. Row NYC is definitely the place to be on Saurday nights if you love the jazz sounds of the 40s. The service was great as well !!

This newly renovated hotel in extremely convenient to NYC Theaters. Several of the theaters are just around the corner from the hotel and Times Square is within walking distance. The Subway access is less than a block from the front door.
The room was compact, minimal storage space for luggage, and the bathroom door was next to impossible to close.
