The Court – A St Giles Hotel

This hotel is in a great location, very close to Grand Central terminal...within 2 blocks you have both a 24hr Duane Reade and a CVS...plus great breakfast spots as well as cool happy hour bars within a few blocks.

The staff was friendly, the room was pretty spacious by Manhattan standards, and it was very clean and sharp. A modern feel but inviting so you enjoyed just relaxing in the room as well. Comfortable bed, great king size pillows.

I think maybe the only thing that was annoying was it seemed that the windows were made of paper as we thought they were open all night because it was so loud outside....now of course that's very common for most of the Manhattan hotels you would find no matter what...try and get a high floor if you can.

My family and I were coming to NYC for a last minute trip but we didn't want to spend the ridiculous amount of money to stay near Time Square. The Court of St. Giles, is a great hotel for the money.

It will not provide the lavish hotel lobby ambience or extreme amenities of a larger chain but it is still worth the stay. The lobby and restaurant is very clean and nice. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable of the area and gave great recommendations for family activities.

We had a great stay and would recommend it for the family that's not looking to spend an arm and a leg.

The Court is a medium sized hotel with some style -- trendy lobby decor and comfortable furniture in the rooms -- a bit worn, but much more attractive than the average hotel room. The room was larger than many NYC hotels in the same price range. The lobby bar is a hot spot, with a very professional bar tender who hand crafts with pride concoctions according to customer tastes. The bar features a pool table and trendy music. My room faced the central courtyard, minimizing the typical Manhattan street noise and 4 am trash collection.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that opens to the central courtyard.

My husband and I enjoyed a two night stay at this hotel. I liked the smallness of it. No huge lobby, no waiting to be checked in or out. The staff was very friendly. We received an upgrade for our stay. We had room on the top floor (16) overlooking the Chrysler building. The only thing negative I can say about this hotel is the noise of the doors closing. Our neighbors came back to their room very late one night and their door slammed shut and woke us up. If you weren't careful to hold the door while closing, it would slam shut loudly. It was in a very nice location within walking distance to Times Square, Grand Central Station, and the Empire State Building. The hotel does have bar and restaurant, but we did not use either. I would stay here again. We got a good price using Hotwire.

This was our first time in New York and we were really glad we chose this hotel.
The location made it both simple to find & easy to get around the city.
The free upgrade we received, when the hotel knew our daughter would be celebrating her 18th birthday there, was unexpectedly generous and the room definitely had a wow factor.
Definitely recommended.

Room Tip: A higher floor (we were on 15) will probably help with traffic noise.

I stayed here with my family for 5 days. Although it is supposed to be a luxury hotel, stepping into the lobby, you could clearly see it really wasn't. The rooms weren't clean as it could be. The bed was comfortable. I'm sure this place was really nice when it first opened, but you could see the obvious wear and tear of the furniture and bathroom. The room was quite large though for a hotel room in the city.

The bathroom was another story: the showerhead has soft water and also did not drain well. So you could basically see what you washed off (ick). There is no counter space in the bathroom. They do have philosophy (the brand) toiletries, though.

In terms of service, we didn't interact with the front desk as much, but they were alright verging on rude. Nothing that big of a deal. The cleaning staff was very friendly and always provided us with ample towels and toiletries. The doormen were also very helpful and friendly.

If you're on a budget and not out for luxury and comfort, then go for it. The location is great though with a lot in walking distance and close to bus stops and grand central.
