I've stayed at Yotel in New York a few times. In general, it's a nice, clean hotel with plenty of atmosphere. Just be warned though that the rooms are very small...think cruise ship, inside cabin small. For one person this isn't an issue but I think it would be difficult for 2 people to spend any amount of time in one of the rooms. The mattresses are very, very thin (and hard).

The breakfast has a free option which is just juice/coffee/muffins. They also have a full menu plus and omelette bar.

The one thing I do find annoying is the 2 elevator system. You enter at street level and then go up 4 floors to the lobby/bar/restaurant area where there's another bank of elevators to take you up to your room's floor. On my last stay (June 2014) the second set of elevators were extremely slow, it took 10 minutes for me to get downstairs one day. Hopefully they can fix this.

Hello Doug H!

Thank you so much sharing your review with us! We are glad to hear you like the overall concept of the hotel. The reason we have 2 different set of elevators is to add an additional security feature and ensure only register guests have access to the guest floors. On that particular date you experience the delays due to the fact that our elevator provider was performing their monthly inspections.
We hope to see you next time around and perhaps you can try one of our First Class King cabins for additional square footage.

The hotel has a great concept, the rooms are small but comfortable. Perfect for a few nights in N.Y. The food is as far as we tried, delicious. Great place to stay, calm but also close to the Times Square.

Yotel is within a few blocks to Times Square. We purchased a Subway/buses 7 day pass. This allowed us to travel all through Manhattan as many times as we liked

Our cabin was excellent. Very quiet on 22nd floor. WiFi was very good
The staff were very helpful.
Yotel compares favorably with other Hotels in the area.

Some people may like the science-fiction qualities of the hotel, like the baggage robot and the automated check-in, but rooms (called cabins) are tiny. The bathroom is interesting in that you can see the city from it--and the city can see you. But my biggest complaint is the noise. New York City has an awful lot of sirens from police cars, ambulances, and fire engines. A modern hotel should have taken that into account and made sure that all the rooms were acoustically isolated from the outside noise. Such is not the case. What good is hip design if you can't sleep due to all the ambient noise? In addition, it is greatly overpriced.

Room Tip: Pick a different hotel

Hello Globe_trotter_100!

Thank you for your review! We are sorry your stay was negatively affected by noise from the streets of the City of New York. We understand completely that our guests want peace and quiet above all else when staying at Yotel. Yotel was built with a high quality window noise eliminator so we are surprise and disappointing to hear this.

we had few days in NY for theatre museums , shopping and gourmet experience.
all we want is clean room in the city not being ripped off by the hotel rate and spen all our money to all of the other plans. it worked perfectly, as for us location and walking distance is reasonable and we had all we needed. there were few issues that the coffee machine in teh kitchenette was not working etc... but we did not make a huge fuss about it. for american expectations, the room is tiny, but for EU norms, its fine for budget hotel. we liked it and will stay again.

Room Tip: corner suites are bit bigger
