Just a few blocks from Times Square, but very quiet. Very comfortable clean room. Room service was delivered quickly and the food was good. Very friendly staff. We will go back.

You can tell the quality of the hotel (no bedbugs), attitude and service were great. This was our second stay and the mid range (for NYC) cost is well with it. A great location for Times Square, Broardway and Fifth Avenue, but also so close to Bryant Park (Christmas Market), Grand Central Station (Christmas Market).
Only down side, but very funny was that the staff seemed not to consider that lots of people speak and understand French, I listened and understood every word of a conversation between two check out staff members, about out stay and check out that's worthy of mention.

We recently stayed for a long weekend winterbreak to the big apple. The hotel (we have stayed many times at the location) is in a great location. Easy access to shopping , restaurants, theatre, etc. but with the advantage of being on a quiet street. Our room (we splurged on a suite) was comfortable and quiet. The hotel staff is superb! All the concierge staff were great and helpful as always. The only complaint I had is that our bathroom only had one sink, should have had 2 especially in a suite. Though the rooms are spacious for NYC, I think they are a tinge worn, and the closet space is quite small. I think the rooms need a retouch. Areas that looked worn: the carpet (stained), the walls, woodwork a bit beat up. All in all we do enjoy it there and would recommend it!

I can't say enough good things about this hotel, my wife and i have stayed 4 times now and everytime we have tried another hotel we have regretted it. This last trip we had actually booked 6 nighs at hilton west 57 and left after the first night to come here. I couldn't possible have stayed longer there knowing the Sofitel was infinitely better and just down the road.
The Sofitel just seems to hit the spot for what we look for for a short city break, we spend all day out shopping and sightseeing and the evenings out for dinner so i have no idea what the restaurants or room service are like, but the rooms are so comfortable, the beds are amazing, i think you would have to spend 2 or 3x more to improve them. It is also perfectly located to explore the city on foot, there are computers in the lobby to use if you need, there are always doormen to find you cabs and welcome you back.
I have twice made the mistake of trying other hotels and I won't make the mistake again!!

My only suggestion is i wish there was free wifi in the rooms, it always bothers me when yous have to pay an unfairly high fee to access it, but at least there are the free computers in the lobby to check in online etc

We stayed in a suite for three nights, just after the New Year and it was great. There were only two suites in the area. There was also a door which we could shut if we wanted more privacy. Only guests with keys to the two suites behind the door have access to the area.

There was a walk-in robe, a very spacious bedroom with a very comfortable bed, separate bath and shower and a separate lounge room in the suite.

Staff at the hotel were also very warm and helpful. Bellboys were keen to assist when we arrived and one staff looked genuinely concerned and offered to assist when he saw the amount of luggage we had. Check-in process was smooth and staff were very welcoming. The hotel had a ‘homely’ feel to it which was great, especially since we’ve been travelling around for about a month before getting to this hotel. Having stayed at many other luxury hotels on our travels this is definitely the best!

We’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York and we’ll definitely return.

Just like other die hard Trip Advisor users I scoured the site before making my plans at the Sofitel in NYC. From the staff to the room and everything in between it was exquisite ! I called the hotel direct and spoke to Sandra in reservations. She was very pleasant and accommodating after telling her I was coming to NYC from Florida just for the weekend to propose to my now fiance'. She went out of her way to get my a reasonable room rate on an executive suite and the view of the city I had requested. On top of that I spoke Julia who is the executive assistant to the manager Jorge Tito and she made the stay with them exceptional. She had a bottle of champagne and some chocolates waiting in our room, the lights were on, tv's set to music, and let us check in early. I could not have expected anything more ! We visit NYC at least once every year for leisure and I assure you I will not stay anywhere else now. The location as you have probably already read is central to subways, theater, and all of the other major attractions NYC has to offer. We walked down to the new trendy market Eataly from the hotel and while it was very cold it took us about 15 minutes at the most. Thanks again to Sandra, Julia, and the Jorge Tito for making this special occasion one that we will always remember.
