I love this hotel. It's a boutique-style, warm, intimate place with what I like to call a "yes" attitude; i.e., you hear "yes, we can help you," "yes, we can do that" all the time. The hosted wine hour every evening and coffee/tea in the mornings (a hallmark of the Kimpton group of hotels) is such a treat and I've made new friends and felt as if I was staying at a good friend's home, not a hotel. The staff truly cares about each guest's experience and, most importantly, in those cases where something didn't go quite right, they go out of their way to make it even more right than it was before. I'm a theater fan and stay here frequently; especially when I am concentrating on seeing shows. It's the perfect location: steps from the Theater District/Times Square, but just up enough to be out of the fray. There is a subway stop just a couple of blocks away and it's easy walking distance to Rockefeller Plaza, Carnegie Hall, Fifth Avenue, Penn Station, etc. The rooms are attractive and spacious, for New York City in particular. Also, I am often traveling on my own, so it's important to me that I feel welcome and at home...The Muse is a perfect fit for the solo traveler as well as when I travel with friends and family.

Room tip: I like the rooms on the front of the hotel, but you may get more street noise. I have found the staff to be extremely patient and helpful in finding a room that suits me, so ask about the room you've been assigned and they'll be happy to tell you about it and what might also be available.

Forget the big name hotels near Times Square. This was a great retreat from the massive number of tourists. You could merely walk 2 block off the main hub of Times Square and be in your well appointed, stylish home away from home. The staff makes this hotel extraordinary. They remember you, they are helpful, they are personable. Rooms are well appointed and the housekeeping staff was great. Our view wasn't great but the room was so nice we didn't care. The cool robes and slipper socks are a nice touch. I will definitely be back and will recommend this place to all my friends. Such a great location and within walking distance of everything.

Room tip: Above the 3rd or 4th floor for a better view.

Great price for hotel, located a short walk to TImes Square. Fun small bar and restaurant connected to lobby. Good room size-we had one double and one with living room with large couch, good bathroom size.No view from either but most hotels at this price don't offer good vistas! Staff friendly and helpful.

Room tip: Not near elevators-same as in most hotels!!

My husband and I visited New York for our 25th wedding anniversary. We decided to stay at The Muse because of it's location and it's a Kimpton. We had high expectations when we arrived and were not disappointed! Very friendly helpful staff. Nice clean comfy room and beds. Loved the free wine at happy hour. Being a dog friendly hotel, it was cute to see the dogs names on the chalkboard welcoming them. The best surprise was when we came back from a long day of sightseeing, there was a chilled bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries with a Happy Anniversary card waiting for us. Nice touch!

What a great find, thanks to other trip advisor reviewers. This hotel is delightful, tasteful and well staffed. From the reception to the housekeeping staff, everyone was friendly and helpful. The room was fabulous. Well appointed, tastefully decorated and clean. No blips here. But the real test of a hotel in New York, especially a block off of Times Square, is the sound level. Not a peep was heard in the room. This is a definite gem, and one to return to again and again.
