I had the pleasure of dealing with Ms. Vicky Mujovic today at the front desk regarding my reservation. Talk about kind, professional and accommodating! She is an asset to the Benjamin Hotel. Thank you for providing such great people to deal with. I am excited to check in tomorrow!

Spent a great weekend in NYC and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Benjamin. We were traveling with our adult sons. Our rooms were on the same floor which was very nice. We were in the city to sightsee so did not spend too much time in the room and chose to eat other places, however I would not hesitate to give the National a try the next time. The menu looks very tasty. Our rooms were comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was a little small, but well appointed

Very pleasant hotel, friendly and helpful staff, well appointed room, a very comfortable bed, and a large bathroom. We were upgraded to a room with a King bed by a very welcoming front staff member. Made our visit all the more special.

Amazing hotel that pleases from the moment you walk in. Clean, friendly staff and excellent room made the trip even more wonderful. The upgrade was a bonus that we thoroughly enjoyed. We will be back!

The hype about the luxury and serenity of the Benjamin didn't match our experience. The lobby had a leak in the ceiling on the night we arrived, after a sudden summer storm: The greeting when we entered after a trying trip was minimal. A man was examining the ceiling with a bright light to find the water leak, & didn't impart confidence.

All the pillow talk seemed so luxurious, as were the photos of the rooms. We ended up with a lower floor room, two views of airwells out the windows.

Admittedly, we had two windows- which meant a corner room, and that was spacious. Also the beige / white decor is soothing. Bathroom was very clean, hygienic and quite up to date.

All the fuss about a pillow menu and such seemed a bother in the end, because we each had one nice pillow. Nonetheless the one pillow does not help a frazzled traveller sleep better; it would have been nice to have a choice in the room; most hotels nowadays have multiple pillows on the bed. It was unclear how quickly one could order others to try, though there was that menu. Who wants to call housekeeping at 11:30 PM, and then wait to see if it works better?

Re service: Slow in the breakfast room on Sunday when they were not that busy. We decided to order our breakfast the night before, for 8 AM the next day. The order obviously got lost-- no system here for hanging a tag on the door. We received the usual answer "Your order is on its way" when we called. It came 20 minutes late!

We booked early and got an internet deal on the price, but in the end we had a clean room in Manhattan, good location, but not thrilled with the experience.

I booked two rooms for my parents and myself after reading the glowing reports on Tripadvisor, and we were disappointed. A bit out of the hotel's control, but they allowed a noisy group with multiple rooms on our floor to persist unabated around 9-11pm as my parents tried to sleep. Further, after falling asleep, they allowed a Domino's pizza delivery person to bang on their door and wake them up. Had the phone worked allowing them to call the front desk, it might have been better, but the phone to the front desk didn't work. My father tried to take a bath, but the plug didn't work resulting in the use of a towel to slow the outflow of water. Finally, in both rooms, the temperature control didn't work correctly. It was cold in the rooms, so we both turned off the AC, but it would turn itself back on at a very low temperature setting throughout the night. With no extra blankets, it was unbearable.

I would call this boutique hotel version 1.5. It appears to be a former old building converted into a newer looking hotel with reasonable sized rooms (though the smaller rooms are something like 250 sf). They are nicely decorated rooms with nice wet bars, as well (we had deluxe kings). Bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

This is not the great find that others suggest. Without our various incidents, it would be a 3.5 stars. They need to do a better job with security and controlling who can go up to guest room floors, they need to fix their faulty HVAC, and they need to fix their room phones.

Switched to The Benjamin from our regular NYC hotel (couple doors down) for this trip and so glad we did. Wonderful service, great rooms and perfect place to access all of Manhattan. What drew me to The Benjamin was a generous act of kindness by the doorman one of our last visits to NYC when our group was offered Benjamin umbrellas after seeking shelter under The Benjamin's canopy during a torrential downpour. Although we were not Benjamin guests, we were encouraged to use their umbrellas as long as we needed them and to keep them if we wished
Thanks Oscar and Benjamin staff for a wonderful stay. We'll be back!
