“Great Fun!”
Reviewed 8 November 2013

Give this place a try if you're anywhere near. Lots of fun! We were ushered in, it was crowded, so we were shown to some chairs along the back wall. Had 1/2 a table we shared with some folks from Dublin! Choose your beer - light or dark - no Coors Light here.

“In a Class by Itself”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

I hadn't been to McSorley's for a few years, but thought some visiting Californians would like to see it. As soon as we walked through the door, I knew I'd made the right choice. We could have spent more time there if our guest didn't think they could see the rest of Manhattan that afternoon.
Go on a weekday afternoon and spend some time exploring all the memorabilia that covers the walls and if you order any food, go easy on the mustard.

“Take a trip in a time machine”
Reviewed 4 November 2013 via mobile

My friend found out about this so we went to check it out after running the NYC marathon. What an amazing place with an incredible history. Sawdust on the floors, a coal burning potbellied stove throwing off heat and a museum of history and photos all over the walls. They only sell 2 beers lite or dark. If you not like it leave! We drank 24 beers and had a burger and fries for under $50. This place is a gem!!

“Must be one of the Oldest Pubs in USA”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

Yes, this pub is from the 1850s I think. They have 2 and only 2 house beers, light and dark. ALWAYS go for the DARK! We had a bowl of chilli with crackers and Clam Chowder - Both very good. However be warned if you want FANCY - do not go. if you want space - Do not go. If you want Atmosphere and a good laugh and you can talk to strangers - Have a great time!

“An atmosphere you can't buy!”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

We frequented a few bars during our trip, but this was by far the best. The ale is quality, the surroundings unfussy and the food wholesome, also very reasonably priced. We had a bowl of chilli with crackers for $3.50. I can also recommend the Clam Chowder ($5.00) and the Cornbeef Hash ($5.50). Friday afternoon there was hardly a seat to be had. Even on a Tuesday afternoon it was busy. You can actually feel the history of the place and we enjoyed just soaking up the atmosphere. A must visit!
