It's near impossible to fault our one night stay at the Ritz Carlton. We were surprised from the start with an upgrade from our city view room to a harbour view suite. It was a truly magificent room, with superb appointments and a gunbarrel view of the Statue of Liberty. I'm still not sure how we managed it, but we were very pleased to be chosen.

A special thank you to the concierge who managed to get us a booking at an otherwise packed Pastis restaurant, which really helped top off a wonderful final night in New York.

Highly recommended for those that can afford its prices (some good discounts are around right now however) or for a one-off splurge in a beautiful hotel.

We stayed at this hotel five years ago and returned because we have not stayed in downtown since. Living in a nearby suburb, we did not need nor want a central midtown location, as we are in that part of the city on a regular basis. For us this stay was all about exploring the lower third of Manhattan and nearby Brooklyn. For these reasons, this hotel was the perfect choice for us.

Battery Park City is a great area to stay in, and the harbor view rooms at the hotel are really worth the extra money. The views are great and we enjoyed watching the endless parade of boat traffic. Of course, the view of the many famous sites is also wonderful. Even the Jersey City skyline across the Hudson River is becoming impressive to look at. Our room was on the ninth floor which was perfect. We would recommend not being much lower to avoid a museum building located between the hotel and the water.

As for the hotel itself, it is a very nice property with a corporate/business feel to it. The rooms are good sized with deluxe marble bathrooms that include separate shower, tub, and water closet. The décor is dark woods and muted colors with comfortable furnishings. Overall, the hotel is in good shape.

We had breakfast each day at 2 West, the hotel restaurant. The ambiance is nice but nothing special. The food was pretty good and service decent. The restaurant is located on the ground level and overlooks the street. A very nice bar with an outstanding view on the fourteenth floor has been closed for about three months. No one provided a reason when we inquired why or if it would reopen. I am sure the owners had a good reason for closing this area but it was one of the nicest features of this hotel, and a big loss for guests. The nice gym with views on the same level remains open.

We have had the pleasure of staying at four other Ritz Carlton hotels this year and this one had the least friendly staff. Everyone was nice enough, and a few people very helpful, but overall the staff did not provide the level of professionalism and friendliness that we’ve found at other Ritz Carlton hotels.

As for the location, it may not be the most convenient location for tourists, but there is a lot to see in lower Manhattan and the vibe is very different in Battery Park City. It is like a little resort area with Midtown just a short subway ride away. Beautiful views, great sunsets, and walks on the promenade may make it worth the effort.

Stayed here to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary and wanted a special place. We got that and more! We mentioned we were staying there for our special day and needed dinner reservations. The concierge were top notch! They got us a special table at Mario Batali's Del Posta. When we returned we were surprised to find a bottle of champagne in our room waiting for us with a lovely card. We ordered the romance butler bath and at $120 had a beautiful rose petaled covered bath with roses and candies not to mention the sensuous bath!
The location was great as only a short walk to Bowling Green subway and a short ride uptown. You can also take a taxi as the door man called one quickly and uptown was only $7 plus they took the short route avoiding traffic. The Battery Park was nice to stroll and sit watching the harbor and overlooking Statue of Liberty! Very safe area, as police presence is here frequently.
The room was a harbor view room upgraded for us, and a view of the harbor overlooking the statue of liberty. We got a north corner room, would not recommend as our north window we could not open the curtains as they are constructing a building next door, very loud but at 5pm they stopped til 8am next day. Make sure to request a high room over floor 5 and not the north side.
Was nice to have a large bath, with separate bath and marbled shower and separate toilet area, the bath is larger than most NYC hotel rooms!
Cant wait to come back!

We have stayed here on two different occasions. The weekend rates are a great deal. We also got a $100 bar/food credit to use which was fantastic. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, we had a view overlooking the water. The service is impeccable. We were disappointed they no longer have the sky bar, they turned it into an event room.

It is definitely located away from downtown, we didnt mind, we took a taxi everywhere.

They treat you very well here, from the moment you drive up. We had the Harbor View room on the Club Level. The Club (lounge) entitles you to wines, cocktails, snacks, sandwiches, hor devres throughout the day. Ms. Wendy was very nice, courteous and attentive. Tipping is not mentioned, however, something we llike to do here at the Club. Our view was great as usual, telescope at the window, caught a few topless bathing beauties in the park across the way, added attraction, i'm sure they were europeans and were not aware that unleashing ones breasts in the financial district in NYC on a sunny friday afternoon was illegal, shame, lol. The beds here are like no other we have ever experienced, comfort at it's highest. The check in person asked if we had a special occasion, i told them it was my fiance's birthday. when we returned that afternoon there was a bottle of wine on ice with a lovely letter to my fiance', nice touch Ritz Carlton, much appreciated, sweet gesture. we will return of course, love this place. we just hate leaving.

Our family decided on a last minute summer getaway to NYC. Availability of rooms was limited so I explored some options and decided on the Ritz Carlton down at the Battery. This turned out to be an excellent choice.

Weekend rates for this Ritz were on a par with lesser hotel chains in Manhattan. The reason for this is location. This property, if you aren't familiar with New York City, is at the far tip of manhattan in the financial district. Personally, I prefer this quieter weekend location and enjoy early morning walks on the waterfront in a beautiful park with views of the Statue of Liberty. The subway is a few blocks away and you can be in midtown rather quickly so I don't see an issue. If you want immediate access to the major museums, theater, central park, etc. you're not going to get that here.

Checkin was flawless and my first impression of the lobby and common areas was positive. Service was impeccable as you would expect with everyone being courteous and helpful.

Our room was spacious with a generous sized bathroom. Beds were extremely comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean. The impression was one of modern elegance. No complaints at all with the accomodations.

Overall, this is a great hotel with a lot to offer the leisure traveler. Take a chance on something a little out of the way and you aren't likely to be disappointed. We definitely weren't and would stay again.

This was our first stay in NYC and our first at a Ritz property and neither disappointed. Service is outstanding and the rooms are lovely. The feather bedding is a luxury in itself! If you want all that NYC has to offer, yet a relaxing environment with a beautiful view, stay here! There are several metro stops within walking distance as well as Wall Street, ground zero, Battery Park, piers for harbor tours, etc. Taxi service is always right out front as well. Fabulous restaurants in nearby Tribeca worth mentioning: Aquagrill and Scalini Fedeli. We'll be back!
