I've stayed in many hotels in Manhattan. The Chandler represents the best value I have experienced. The room was large by NY standards, well appointed, beds and linens excellent. Can't beat the location and the staff are amazing, blocks from Eataly, Union Square and one of my favourite restaurants Artisanal. My new home away from home. I arrived at 10am on a Friday and my room was ready! I cannot wait to go back.

I am very pleased with our recent stay at the Hotel Chandler. All of the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and personable and treated us very well. Our beds were turned down each night and a piece of good chocolate was placed on our pillows. They even had a complimentary bottle of wine and a box of chocolates waiting for us. The room was clean and a good size for two. Loved the black-out curtains. The bathroom was small but spotless. The only cons were the lighting wasn't bright enough (I like bright rooms) and we had issues with the air conditioner and the room would get very muggy. They sent someone to fix it but it only worked for an additional 45 minutes. They did offer to move us to another room but we were already settled in and didn't want to be bothered with packing our things up. We stayed on the 7th floor in a room right off the elevator. We were never bothered by noise from the street but you definitely could hear when someone called for the elevator or were simply having a conversation. This hotel is in a nice area and in close proximity to the Empire State Building and a fabulous restaurant-Rue 57-about an 8 minute taxi ride away. (Go for brunch and try the Lobster Hash. Yummy!) I would definitely stay at the Hotel Chandler again.

This was a girls weekend to NYC. The location was perfect for shopping and dining. Easy walk to Times Square. Quiet location, clean, modern accomodations with exquisite bedding. Maid service was top notch.

What really stood out about this hotel was the service. The staff was friendly, extremely helpful, and well-informed, They couldn't do enough for you and you really felt that they were genuine. Everyone from the front desk staff, the concierge and the bartender at the bar made us feel very welcomed. Thanks to everyone at the hotel for making our short stay in NYC so pleasurable. We loved our stay and will definately return.

Overall, this is a lovely, centrally located hotel in Manhattan. Yes, the rooms are small, but that's what should be expected of most NYC hotels. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the rooms were always very clean. The most surprising thing was how QUIET the rooms were! I expect a good deal of traffic noise whenever I travel to NYC, but didn't even get that during our stay here. Definitely the best sleep I have ever had at a hotel.

Tips:
1) This hotel is VERY close to Madison Square Garden, so if you have a reason to go there, this is the place to stay.
2) The hotel is within close walking distance of a few different subway lines, so you can get pretty much anywhere in the city.
3) The turn-down service was automatic (they usually arrived around 7 pm), which is nice, as you don't have to request it. If you don't want the service, they respect the "do not disturb" sign on your door handle.
4) The staff will not book a shuttle service for you (contrary to what we have experienced at other NYC hotels). So, if you need to book a SuperShuttle or Go Shuttle, make sure you do it in advance (they need a minimum of three hours notice).
5) The elevators are very slow - not a huge problem, but something to keep in mind.
6) The in-room continental breakfast option costs 20$ and includes coffee or tea, juice, yogurt, fruit and a pastry. If you do your research, you can find a much more reasonably priced place within walking distance of the hotel instead.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1224 (if I remember correctly), and found it to be very quiet - however, it will d...

Reception staff was very efficient and friendly. When we came in via train (a short walk from Penn Station) we were early but staff stored our bags so we could go sightseeing. The hotel is very clean and the room was modern and nice. It was 10 feet by 12 and had a queen bed. The bathroom was spotless with a great shower. The hotel is very conveniently located in Midtown, close to the park and lots of nice restaurants. We were able to see every sight I wanted to see and were within walking distance of the Theater District. If you don't have tickets go to the TKTS booth in Times Square at 3:00 on the day of the performance for discount tickets. The hotel is close to several subway stations for convenient travel all over Manhattan. I would definitely stay there again.

We usually stay midtown or downtown but we had tickets to a hockey game at the Garden.
We decided to try the Chandler and it was a very pleasant surprise. We took the train into Penn station and walked to the hotel. Although we got there at lunch time our room was ready when we arrived. Our room was charming and recently re-done and the people who work there couldn't be nicer. It is also a tremendous value. We walked to dinner at Caffe Lugo (which I also recommend) watched the game and walked home to the hotel. The next morning we walked to the train and went home. Perfect

Room Tip: We got the Chandler Suite which was still less than a regular room in a mid town hotel It had a se...

The staff were all pleasant, the room was clean and it is located in central Manhattan. The hotel is on 31st street between 5th and Madison, you hear none of the noise from those avenues and 31st is calm so sleeping is easy. The bed was good and the room was an appropriate size for the two of us, not big but sufficient. The lobby, "library"/tv room, and breakfast space look refinished and the free coffee and tea all day are a nice touch. The gym is small and the machines aren't the best but it works for a hotel gym.
The only ding for the hotel is the shower-head in the room is mounted directly above you and there is no flow adjust for the water; you step in, turn it on and get hit with a burst of cold water until you find the right spot on the dial. You also can't take a shower without washing your hair since the water is coming straight down on you.
