Wonderful staff from top to bottom - greeting, assisting with luggage, obtaining a taxi, everything! Comfortable room; larger than most NY hotel rooms; attractive; Empire State Building; Crumbs; Brendan's; all close by - great location!

I have stayed at Hotel Chandler multiple times and it has been consistently wonderful. It's impeccably designed and decorated - both before and after the lobby renovation. You cannot beat its location for shopping, touring, dining...just name it. Most importantly, the staff is incredible!! They are always courteous and responsive. A great NYC experience!!

I had a very pleasant stay in this hotel. Staff were very helpful, and the room was smallish but very comfortable. The shower was also the best I've ever had in a hotel! All in all a very nice hotel in a central location.

This was our first stay at Hotel Chandler -- we stayed for 3 nights while visiting our son who lives in NYC (but whose apt is too small to accommodate guests!!). We had such a GREAT experience that we will DEFINITELY stay here again!! I've already recommended it to other family members that frequent NYC!!! There were so MANY good "things" about it that I'm not even sure where to start...!

First off, it's very conveniently located on E. 31st St between Madison & 5th Avenues -- only a few blocks from the 6 and N/R trains (one is northeast, one is southwest from hotel). And of course, you're close enough to walk to TONS of stuff -- like the Empire State bldg on 34th, Park Avenue, Madison Square Park (for a Shake Shack) etc... Right around the corner from the hotel there was a very good, reasonably priced Italian restaurant called Bella Napoli (I believe).

Next "biggie" in my opinion is the SPACIOUS room -- by NYC standards!! We were extremely impressed! We stayed in what was considered a "Superior Queen". We had a desk & desk chair, two nightstands, a HUGE armoire with drawers and hangers, an additional more "comfy" chair as well as a large bathroom -- oh and a full length mirror cabinet thing that held an ironing board unit. AND we still had room to WALK around the bed etc!!!! No doors hitting the bed...which we HAVE had happen in previous NYC visits at other hotels!

Other nice amenities include free WiFi (once again RARE in NYC), an outstanding hotel/local area information guide/booklet, easy to reach light switches and easily accessible outlets to be able to charge your cell phone (HOW many times have YOU had to stand on your HEAD to reach an outlet in a hotel room??!! Usually to reach one that's located BEHIND the table/nightstand and or to have NO outlets even available once they've plugged your lamps and clock in?!!), as well as chocolates on your pillow each night, robes in the bathroom, a rainfall shower head in a HUGE shower, and last but not least, the Hotel Chandler is VERY reasonably priced (again - for NYC)!!! You can't beat it in my opinion....

The staff is exemplary -- they are very attentive without being intrusive and are extremely friendly. They actually seem to CARE if you have a pleasant stay! We were greeted quickly, allowed to check in early (our flight arrived around 1 p.m. so we got to the hotel prior to the "standard" 3 p.m. check in time), and after being in the room for a bit, got a call from the front desk to check if all was OK with the room. Later that night I called down to the front desk to see about obtaining a complimentary mini-frig -- the room had a stocked mini-bar, but I wanted to keep my own water/pop in our room and one of the hotel info cards (on the desk) had said that we could request a mini-frig if desired. They were extremely pleasant in responding to our request and within minutes we had a mini-frig installed in the corner of our room!! Another example of the outstanding service was when the "management" left a note in our room one night informing us that the housekeeping staff had gone ahead and reset our clocks since it was time to switch to Daylight Savings Time...which I thought was a nice "touch"...

The lobby of the hotel is very comfortable and spacious with multiple little "sitting areas", a fireplace and is stocked with complimentary coffee and tea 24 hours a day which helped alot when we went walking around NYC in the early spring "chill"...

The ONLY downside was the "view" from our room....which consisted of a fire escape and the building right next door (we were in room 729)! I'm guessing if we had requested a change, they probably would have accommodated us -- given how service friendly the hotel was -- but we weren't planning to spend much time in our room -- so we opted not to worry about it. Never know -- maybe our "room type" only has inside rooms or something too...?? Guess I'd just recommend that if a view is important to you, make sure to request one!

Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend Hotel Chandler!! Do yourself a favor and stay there if you're planning to visit NYC any time soon!!

(On a side note -- I'm thinking this hotel is either under new management or was bought out and is under different ownership than a few years ago.... I say this because I was curious about the negative reviews and what the issues were... Most were dated 2009/2010 - or earlier - and we did not encounter ANY of the issues mentioned in those earlier reviews -- so I believe that's been "fixed" somehow...just FYI)

Room Tip: Request a view if that's important to you. Also elevators are a little on the slow side -- so r...

Thank you, Thank you for your wonderful review. I am delighted that you enjoyed every bit of your stay! Even though the Hotel has not undergone any ownership change we do have new management that took over in late 2010. Great neighborhood. Excellent facility. quiet room, comfortable bed and pillows. Excellent bath, hot water, towels, robe, amenities and work out facility. Recently remodeled with newer fixtures and tiling. Very restful after a long day/night out in NYC. I will definitely book at this hotel again.
