The hotel is small, but elegant and quaint at the same time. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. The deli/store just across the street was (Bread and Butter) was very convenient and is in close proximity to shopping and Times Square area.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights/2 days and stayed in one of the hotel's Premium Guest rooms. The room was very spacious and very classy in earthy tones. It had a nice relaxing feel to it and the bathroom was lovely, modern and clean. The bed was very comfortable and obviously a king as was massive. There was a mini bar and all neccessary room amenities which was great - in fact there was nothing I could fault and the air con perfect. The only issue was the street noise and view. We were up a few floors but at night there was a fair bit of street noise due to the trash being collected as well as I assume extra trash items being collected from the construction site across the road. And with that site during the day, came the sound of chainsaws and jackhammers etc... from memory from about 8am. I don't recall earlier but it could have been!? So unless you are a very deep sleeper or totally exhahusted then I would try to avoid sleeping in one of the rooms right on the street. Also, the staff kept closing the room's blinds - but then the view outside was rather unattractive when open - so maybe that was why! However, right from the minute we checked in (after midnight too) ALL the staff were VERY lovely, friendly and helpful so top marks! We also had a drink in the bar and a meal in the lovely Juni restaurant - both also great experiences. We thought the location was really good and enjoyed walking to Macy's, Eataly and chilling out at Greeley Square (trendy pop up food trucks/park area) along and across the road from Macy's. Also nice and close to the Flatiron & Empire State buidings too. Oh, and for any taxis rides - get yourself on to the 'Uber app' - totally awesome and wish we had known earlier for those days we coudn't catch a cab during busy times - would have saved us a lot of grief! I would stay at this hotel again - but a room NOT near the street next time!

Room Tip: Try to avoid a room East 31st Street due construction noise.

Dear PrettyisParamount,

I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the room décor of our Premium rooms and took advantage of Eataly and the pop-up trucks at Greeley Square! We are fortunate to have an excellent staff and I am glad you appreciated their service. I apologize that you found the stay to be noisy and would encourage you on a future stay to request a room on the inside part of the Hotel facing away from the street; if you contact us we would be more than happy to make a note on your profile to ensure a quiet room when you visit.
We look forward to welcoming you back and better accommodating your needs during your next trip to the city.

Sincerely,

Kate Martin

We look for certain things when staying in NYC: good location, close to all the things to see and do, comfort, and quiet night's rest. We got all that plus the most attentive staff we have had in NYC ever. We arrived late and our suite had the bed and the sofa bed turned down and ready for us. In a few minutes the front desk called to make sure everything was as we wanted. The bed was comfortable, though our adult daughter said the sofa bed' middle support bar was irritating. We loved the decor. There are coffee and tea in the lobby available at all times, and a lovely library area. One of the downsides that became an upside was the view, back of buildings, the up side was no street noise at night! Every staff member seemed genuinely happy to see us and anxious to be of service. This is the first NYC hotel we have stayed at that we will book again.

Spent 4 nights at the Chandler boutique hotel for our Anniversary trip to NYC and had a great stay. While we didn’t spend a lot of time at the hotel, what time we did spend here was very enjoyable. Check-in/check-out was a breeze. During the day there was always lots of friendly staff around to open the door, hail a cab, answer questions etc. Our room was a little smaller, but very nice and comfortable and more than adequate for two people (not sure why anyone would need anything larger when you’re out most of the day sightseeing anyways). When we arrived at night, the beds were always turned down with a chocolate on each pillow, which was a nice touch. Concierge was very helpful and even left us a nice card and plate of chocolates in our room one night for our anniversary (thanks Charlie!)-it’s those kinds of little things that make a hotel enjoyable to stay at. And even on the one morning when we went down and Concierge was busy with other guests, we asked one of the Bell-hops for a good breakfast restaurant and he recommended Penelope (good recommendation!) Our room was on the 12th floor at the very end of one of the halls and backed on to the rear/courtyard so we had no street noise issues. I could see if you were at the front of the hotel where you might hear horns/street noise etc, but I think that could probably be said for any hotel in Manhattan. Our AC was also a little on the louder side (I think more because of the ratio of the size of the unit compared to the size of the room than anything else), however I found it just added white-noise and I ended up getting used to it. There is a quick-food place and drug store right on the corner of 5th Ave, and the Empire State and Macy’s are very close. We walked everywhere uptown (Times Square and Broadway, Rockefeller Centre, MoMA etc) but if walking is not your thing the Bell-hops will quickly flag you down a cab, or the closest subway stops are probably 10 minute walk away. Unfortunately we didn’t get to try the Juni restaurant, but we did eat at nearby Penelope and Sarabeth’s for breakfast (both a little pricey but very good). Overall we really enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again on a return trip to Manhattan.

The hotel overall is a great find, good location (centrally located, but not really close to much), and the service is excellent. Twice daily maid service with turndown, great condition overall, towels, linens, etc. Only complaint is the size of the room (we were in the smallest queen room). It was hard to fit two suitcases and two people in there comfortably for 4 days. Otherwise, everything was great.

Superb hotel with exceptional staff.
Ideal location, empire state was only block and half away and subway located on 28th and 33rd street.
Plenty of places to grab a quick bite to eat, store located right across the street provided a range of food/services at a good price. We didn't get a chance to experience Juni restaurant, but would recommend having a cocktail in the hotel bar.
Little extra things like the variety of hot drinks available free of charge in the lobby, range of bathroom amenities, standard of service provided by each member of staff and turn down service every evening made this hotel a real treat.
There was construction work going on across the street and we were in a front facing room (822) but this didn't effect our sleep at all.
I wouldn't think about staying anywhere else on my return trip, loved everything about this hotel.

Room Tip: I emailed in advance to ask if it was possible to get a fridge for the room, this wasn't a probl...

Great service, room and location. We arrived in NY pretty late, and were given a room with no view, on a lower level. As we were staying there for 8 days, we asked the lady at the front desk if we could have a room with better views, and hotel was very accommodating. Service couldn't be faulted, and our experience was great. Also had no issues with wifi connection. Only negative comment was complimentary tea & coffee is self serve downstairs.
