Is it good, yes, it tastes good, the feeling is of a soft cream, and the colours are great. This said there is a long queue and the price is really high. The point is that it really feels too soft, the colours are too strong, and the bottom line is that there are a few places close by where gelato is truly hand made without too much hydrocolloids which make the great great ...too much softness. Anyway it's very very popular, so people like it!

This is a frequent stop for us when in NYC, and has become a "must do." The opportunity to include five different flavors on a single cone is a unique treat. The quality is superb and the fact there is always a line speaks volumes. Highly recommended.

We had a bit of a job finding Amorino as we took a wrong turning and actually ended up in Greenwich village so had lunch there instead. - well after a couple more hours shopping we realised our error once back in Union Square and were glad we persisted as we trekked down university place. It's a little corner bakery/ ice cream parlour and some of their flavours are so lovely and out of the ordinary. They also shape the gelato into a flower on top of the cone. I had a scoop of amaretto and a scoop of biscotti and my hubby had the pistachio and almond.

There is a little fire place inside (there was no need for it to be lit on the day we were there as it was so warm) with 2 cosy leather armchairs either side and also some high strolls and tables to sit and rest your weary feet.

If you come, you'd be a fool to not get your gelato on a cone: they will sculpt it in the shape of a rose for you, which is pretty great.

You pay for the size of cup or cone you want first, then select your flavors. Best part is that you get unlimited flavors! I chose 3: straccietella (whole milk with chocolate shavings), tiramisu (which tasted more like coffee than tiramisu, but was still delicious), and pistachio (so so good).

This place is some fantastic gelato. Worth a visit. (And their gelato cakes look pretty good too)
