This is a beautiful boutique hotel. The staff went out of their way to be welcoming and friendly and take care of every need ( they really deserve ten stars!!). We arrived at the hotel only to find a nice bottle of Kosher wine and a beautiful birthday card for my daughter. Each floor boasts a different genre of books. We stayed in the Music room in the Arts floor. Each evening, there were chocolates as well as the next day's weather report in the room. Room was very clean with a nice decor. I had expected this tiny room, but it was plenty big for a Manhattan hotel. Free breakfast each morning that was beautifully prepared, including the most delicious fresh peaches. Bottled water, fruit and cappuccino ( choice of regular or decaf) available all day. Beautiful rooftop terrace. The location can't be beat- 41st St and Madison. Right down the street from the New York Library, and a block away from Fifth Avenue.. The street is also called Library Way. We had a great time in this hotel. I would definitely stay in this hotel again and recommend it to friends.

We went to the Library Hotel late july to early august for a week and got room 602 (600.002). It was a very nice room, very clean and comfortable, couldn't ask for anything else.

The staff was very friendly and eager to please.

Floor 2 where they serve breakfast is open 24/7 where you can get snacks/fruits/coffe/tea and sometimes they even have some free wine and extra snacks, very nice!

The restaurant Madison & Vine which is located next to/inside the hotel was excellent, try the mac and cheese!

The location was superb, from JFK we took "NYC Airporter" and it stopped just across the street from the hotel.

It is in walking distance from grand central station where you can get to the subway within minutes.

Would definatly stay here again!

Room Tip: Room 602 was excellent, queen size bed. It had the theme 'automation' which wasn't very interesting for us but maybe for someone else. (Each room has a theme with books to go along with it)

This is a beautiful hotel. It goes out of its way to be welcoming and friendly. It has become my favorite place to stay in NYC.

The location is superb. Walk one block and you're in the magnificent and populist NY Public Library. Go around the back of the library and you're in Bryant Park where on a nice day the incredible mix that is NYC is enjoying the flowers, the shade, and the city.

The rooms are small-ish the way NYC hotel rooms are, without being cramped the way some NYC hotel rooms are. They are very comfortable, and not over-designed as rooms. The bathroom was clean and usable, without glass doors, full-length windows to the outside, or any such foolishness.

The second floor "reading room" is set with small tables and chairs. The included continental breakfast and the complementary wine and cheese afternoon spread are served here. The breakfast was delicious: excellent pastries, NYC bagels, hard boiled eggs, cereal, excellent OJ and coffee... The afternoon wine spread is also good.

Good free wifi.

The service was uniformly friendly and very eager to help. But never pushy.

The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. We slept well.

Although this hotel has a library theme, it doesn't get in your way. The theme means that the rooms are given Dewey Decimal-style topical numbers, and the books inside reflect that topic. (The owners of the Dewey system sued the Library Hotel when it opened because it used the Dewey system without permission; it's copyrighted.) But the hotel doesn't go overboard pursuing that theme. Just lots of books around, and some of the quiet and civility you'd find in a library.

This is a great hotel, and compared to typical NYC prices was actually quite reasonable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Library Hotel and found it extremely conveniently situated for all we wanted to accomplish while in New York. We loved the rooms, the roof terrace, the afternoon tea/happy hour arrangement, the breakfast and views from the breakfast room. The shuttle bus back to JFK virtually right outside the door of the hotel was also extremely convenient.

Thank you again for the kindness and consideration of all the staff.

We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights (from July 13). The location is amazing, near all the action in the city and it is in a quite area, plus you have a Subway station just 2 mins walk.
The Staff are superb, I wish I can give them 6 stars. They can direct you anytime you call or ask, and they have an excellent knowledge about the area. They can even help you arrange your trip around the city.
The only problem we faced is the room, (Petite room - 1 double bed) from the name we understand that it is "Petite" or small but we didn't imagine it is that small. It is hard to open 2 baggages at the same time. The room was clean and well arranged.
Breakfast was simple and free, and you have a reading room which is open 24/7 and you can get free complementary Tea or coffee.
there is a 14th-floor lounge with indoor and outdoor seating, I tried it once and it was really nice and relaxing.
I do recommend this hotel, and definitely I will book it again in the future but with a bigger room.
The price is OK comparing to what you are getting from service, location (area) and professional and elegant staff.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Don't use petite room if you are couples with many luggages.
