“An excellent hotel in Manhattan”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014

After several visits to New York and staying in the usual huge hotels with rude staff, impersonal service, rooms not properly cleaned the Library hotel was everything that I received a recommendation on.

Well situated in a fairly quiet street with a great restaurant owned by the hotel on street level.
I ate there with guests twice and the food was great and well priced.

On arrival the reception staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.

The room was clean, well cared for including the bathroom.
The daily breakfasts were excellent - a continental breakfast as advertised - everything was fresh and nicely presented. The service was really good from very helpful staff.
During the day one could pop in for a coffee, a snack etc.
There were rooftop drinks in the evening though I never made it.

I have recommended this hotel and would certainly return on a future visit to New York.

Room Tip: I had a great large corner room, quiet with lots of light.

We stayed at the Library Hotel from 27th Dec 2013 - 3rd January 2014. The staff were incredibly helpful throughout our stay and could not do enough to ensure we were happy. As first time visitors to NYC they were able to give us tips and local insight which allowed us to make the most of our time there. This even extended to advising us of the best takeaway pizza to order although they could not all agree on this! They were also able to secure restaurant reservations at short notice including the brilliant steak house opposite.

We were unlucky enough to catch the start of the big freeze that hit North America on our last day, this led to quite a lot of uncertainty regarding our flights but the hotel staff were again superb, they checked airline and airport updates for us and kept us up to date with how many rooms they had available should our flight be cancelled.

The room we stayed in was the 'Classics' room, it was very comfortable and absolutely spotless, the breakfast was a buffet and had a good range of fruit, cereal, pastries and bagels. There is free tea, coffee, tea biscuits and fresh fruit throughout the day.

We were only able to sample the cheese and wine evening once but it there seemed to be a good selection of the offer and there was a good atmosphere.

Aside from this the hotel is in a great location, literally 2 minutes from Grand Central. Broadway, Times Square and the Rockefeller Centre are all within a short walk.

Overall, one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in.

Recently spent 3 days at the Library Hotel. The staff made it a really welcome home away from home. Both my early arrival and late departure requests were cheerfully granted. The lounge was a welcome place to rest with coffee & treats throughout the day. The evening reception with wine and snacks was very nice & they did not limit the wone. I got multiple refills from the hostess without even asking! The room was very nicely appointed with a nice work space and spacious bathroom. This was the best experience I have had in NYC and I have visited the city several times per year for at least the past 10 tears!

What a wonderful experience! Decided to treat ourselves to something unique and were not disappointed. Sublime hotel, warm, friendly service and great comfortable rooms. Location fantastic, close to NY Public Library and Grand Central Station. The Reading Room is a real treat for breakfast and late night snacks & drinks. A librarian's dream.

I travel a lot in US but also in other countries, and it is one of my best experiences. Rooms are not very big, but over the standard in New York. They are very comfortable, clean and calm, and WI-FI is free (and working, that is not always the case when it is free...). Bed is also comfortable. Service is perfect; great breakfast. And if you are tired of running through the streets of New York, the bookmarks lounge is perfect to rest, read and have a fine drink...

My girlfriend (now my fiancé) and I stayed at The Library Hotel for a week over Christmas (22 December 2013 - 30 December 2013). The hotel has it all, the wine and cheese evenings are great and plentiful, the staff are all attentive and are prepared to go the extra mile.

It was our first visit to NYC and we found the hotel to be located in a great area for exploring Midtown and beyond. Times Square, the Empire State Building, Macys, Broadway and a whole host of other attractions are accessible on foot and within 20 minutes or so. Grand Central Station is just around the corner which makes travelling further afield very convenient.

I could probably write for hours about all the finer minutiae and how our stay was made perfect by this Hotel.

All I can say is do believe the hype and don't waste anymore time in booking your stay.

We will definitely stay at The Library Hotel again if we head back to NYC.

We come up from Philadelphia occasionally and now believe we have found the hotel. Favorable impressions started about a week before our arrival when a gentleman called (live, not a recorded message) to see if we needed assistance with suggestions or reservations. The friendly attitude continued at our arrival with the doorman and super nice young woman at the desk. We were a little early so they took our bags and we had a quick and good lunch at Madison and Vine right next door before hitting the streets. We were upgraded without asking to a slightly larger room on 12-- still smallish but clean, modern and perfectly adequate for us. The "library" on the second floor has seating for 30 or so for breakfast (included) and stop in anytime all day for tea, cookies, or an espresso drink from a great machine. I worked in NYC in my younger days and I must say everyone we encountered was much friendlier than the old days. A great visit!

Room Tip: I took a point off because our hvac made a wheezing noise when it cycled on and the rooms are small...
