The Library Hotel offered one of the smoothest services I have ever experienced. Their attention to detail was superlative and the facilities were spot on.

They just went top of my list of favourite hotels and they just raised the bar of what a great hotel experience should be.

The Reading Room on the second floor offers non-stop coffees and pastries all day long. Breakfast is served in this room and in the evening it also offers wine and cheeses.

There is an excellent roof-top bar and the hotel is located in an ideal location between the Grand Central Terminal and Times Square.

We will certainly return to this hotel when we visit New York.

A group of us stayed at Library Hotel several nights to celebrate a family birthday. What a cute place and loved the book/Dewey decimal theme. The staff was so courteous, too. Close to Grand Central Station with all the cute shops, etc. Complimentary breakfast each morning with a fairly good variety and they also did a wine and cheese serving in the evening. Two minor complaints: (1) too dark in the bathroom for adequate makeup (but the big magnifying mirror was nice and appreciated). I think the lights just weren't spaced correctly. More from overhead and not enough from the side. (2) Though I'm not short, I had a hard time reaching the room safe. It was way over my head (I'm 5"6"). The bed was super comfy!

This hotel is a real gem but why? It has a great personality and terrific staff who are truly helpful and responsive. Our suite on the 12 floor was cozy and restful. The midtown location is 5 mins walk to Grand Central so you can get anywhere, quickly. After an exhausting day of sightseeing or shopping with reservations for dinner at 20:00 what do you do in between? You recharge by enjoying the good wine and lovely nibbles on offer, gratis, between 18:00 and 20:00. Without hesitation you’d recommend this place to family and associates alike.

Room Tip: Go for higher floors and a suite

I always try to stay @ Seaport when I travel to for overnight business meetings. The rooms are very spacious & clean. They take care of every small detail i.e. they have an umbrella in case it suddenly start raining, provide mouthwash etc.

Room Tip: rooms are nice and staff very helpful..amazing & comfortable

Cannot say enough about how courteous and helpful the staff was--from the front desk to the breakfast servers. The hotel is in a central location---close to Bryant Park, Times Square, Central Park. We walked everywhere. The second floor was always available with continental breakfast, coffee and cookies all day, wine and cheese in the afternoon. We celebrated our 25th anniversary on this stay and found champagne in our room, which was the "romance languages" room. Concierge made wonderful suggestions and reservations for us. We will definitely be back.
Our only criticism, and this was small, was the A/C unit was a bit loud when it cycled on and off.

I was disappointed after reading the reviews of the hotel. The hotel location is excellent and the breakfast is a great way to start the day. When we arrived, our room was not ready which is fair as we did arrive early. However, we had luncheon reservations which meant we had to change after flying in late into New York that morning. We were told to use the bathroom on the second floor as opposed to offering us a room to just wash up and change (I do not know if the hotel was booked). No stress relief at the start of our NY weekend.
Furthermore, we only had turn down service for one night as opposed to two-for the cost and the expectation in terms of service, it just did not happen for us. The front desk was friendly but they just did not give us the personal attention we did need especially at time of arriv al.

Our room had a king size bed but the layout was tight. We overlooked the main street which thankfully was quiet at night time. One concern is the elevator. One was out of service the day we arriv ed but fixed for the following day. The elevators are slow and cramped. Take the stairs if you can.

Dear Rebecca091,

I am so devastated to hear that your stay wasn't what you had hoped for. I know how critical first impressions are and how your experience on arrival can set the tone for the rest of your stay. It is clear that we failed to provide you the warm welcome you deserved and for that I am sincerely sorry.

It truly pains me that your first moments at the hotel were stressful. We wholeheartedly try our best to accommodate guests that let us know if they plan to arrive early but it can be extremely challenging to do since we are a small hotel and often sold out. In your reservation I can see that you clearly indicated a request for an early check in, a few hours prior to the guaranteed 3PM check-in time. After some research, it became clear that although the room you were supposed to check into was still occupied, two other Junior Suites were available. Unfortunately, our housekeeping staff had not cleaned them yet. Looking back, we see that you are right and we could have done more for you by changing your room assignment when the other room became vacant earlier. We are usually very responsive in this area, but in this case, it seems like there was a lapse. The communication between the desk and housekeeping was not at the level we strive for each day and for that we truly apologize. Although we did have the room ready at the agreed time, our standards are higher as we always want to go above and beyond to make our guests comfortable.

I've shared your review with my entire team to really highlight how essential arrival times were to your experience. We take every guest’s comment very seriously and the human perspective such as you shared with us only helps to improve our resolve to ensure our guests are not inconvenienced when it was in our power to avoid it.

Our evening turndown is part of the Library Hotel Collection’s signature amenities so I’m sorry you were unable to experience it on both nights. Since it is a very important service that we provide, our housekeeping staff keeps a nightly list of everyone that received or did not receive turndown. Our housekeeper recorded that there was a Do Not Disturb sign on your door that evening, which is why she did not enter your room. Perhaps you left for the evening and forgot to remove it? We always urge our guests to tell us right away when something isn't as expected so that we have the opportunity to make it right immediately. We would have been delighted to provide the service for you.

I would really welcome the opportunity to show you that you can have an exceptional stay at the Library Hotel. If you would be so kind to give us another try, we would be grateful. Please contact me directly the next time you are in New York City and it would be my pleasure to personally make your reservation. I can be reached at Robert@libraryhotel.com or 212-204-5410.

Kind regards,
Robert Rawlins
General Manager

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Library Hotel. We spent 8 nights and loved the service and special attention we received. We will certainly recommend this gem to anyone we know traveling to NYC.

Room Tip: Higher floor and largest room.
