great hotel! like a bed and breakfast in the heart of NYC with personal service and small gathering spaces. rooms were very nicely decorated. the contintental breakfast was excellent, especially the fresh fruit. complimentary wine and cheese was a great way to relax after a long day of shopping. love, love, loved it. will definitely go back again.

When we first arrived I thought we had made a mistake. One lift wasn't working and we felt it was not very modern. The hotel has some unique features. Breakfast is better than we expected and after breakfast the room is used a a lounge which guests can use throughout the day. Soft drinks, tea, coffee and snacks are free. In the evening there is free wine and cheese. This was really good to meet other guests and make new friends. The hotel has a roof top terrace which is open to guests all day. In the evening it is open to the New Yorkers who use the bar, this just makes it more interesting. The staff are really friendly and if you are to, this is a great place to stay.

This hotel has all anyone could need, whether it be for anything from a business trip such as for myself, to a romantic honeymoon for a newly-wed couple. An ideal location, one block from Grand Central, and three blocks from Times Square. Unfortunately for me I did not have much time for such pleasures. Hopefully next time though! Yes, I would definitely return for a holiday. The rooms were spotless, albeit slightly expensive, but a minor detail for such luxury. My only complaint, if you could call it so, is that as friendly and polite as the staff were, I couldn't help but feel it was only a routine for them. Having stayed in many hotels, and working within the industry, I think the employees were slightly superficial. Other than that my stay was excellent.

We stayed here for our engagement weekend. It was a very cool hotel. Wine and cheese everynight and breakfast in the morning. The staff was great and very kind. Great location as well.

Wow. The Library Hotel is a fantastic, oasis of calm right in New York City. My boyfriend booked this hotel as a surprise and I couldn't have been more pleased with his efforts - the room was beautiful. Keeping with the theme of the hotel, the rooms and floors have themes relating to books, which is a lovely touch.

The staff are lovely and very helpful. There's also a great free breakfast and complimentary cheese and wine in the afternoon.

It was an amazing stay.

We spent three very enjoyable days here recently. The staff, the room, and the special touches that this hotel offers made it a great refuge within the intense Manhattan environment in which it exists. The staff was ever helpful and friendly without the stuffiness of the "always looking for a tip" type of attention. The room (Queen Deluxe) was not huge, but it was tastefully set up and just right for our stay. The special touches were evident within the scope of the common areas: the breakfast room was kept wonderfully stocked and when the room became a bit full, we were directed to the rooftop garden room with our trays filled with a great continental feast. That same room hosts the cocktail time which is very filling. (Too filling as one night, we never even made it to dinner as we were too stuffed!) There was even a pianist who played while were there one night.
However, the most important facet of this place is the feeling you get when you exit the loud, hot, and intense city streets and instantly relax as you head to your room....the world just melted away.

Never judge a book by its cover? Not here. The Library Hotel NYC gets it right from start to finish. From front to back. From cover to last page. Finally, a friendly, efficient, attention to detail driven hotel in a delightful location. At the 'Library', you are a person-not just a guest. And it all gets underway from the minute you check in. Hotel staff are welcoming and extremely helpful. They clearly enjoy their job and readily share their enthusiasm.

This is a relatively small property. But this is one of its strengths. The rooms are spotless and professionally maintained. The complimentary refreshments (Reading Room) on ther 2nd floor is to die for after a hectic day on the NY retail hustings. Wine, cheese, refreshments, finger food.... fabulous! And it's free and in relaxed surroundings.

If you're ready for a change from one of the 'biggies' to a hotel where you are treated as a person (and not a booking confirmation #) and valued as a person- you can't go past the Library Hotel. We came here on recommendation. They delivered the promise. We are very impressed and look forward to returning.
