First time stay ( usually stay at it's sister hotel La Quinta across the street). but will definitely return. Rooms are quiet and our window overlooked a deck/garden of another building. Hotel is is Koreatown which is always crazy but full of 24/7 restaurants, near all subways, penn sta, etc. -elevators are slow and crowded so ask for a room on a lower floor. Free wifi is spotty, breakfast is basic but free so I'm not complaining. Room sizes are avg for NYC but decent. The cost before tax.etc for my room was about $250 with aaa discount. When taking the stairs down to the lobby you end up on the street which is a little strange.

Room Tip: We liked room 409. Quiet and overlooked a deck/garden. Also a lower floor so you don't have to w...

Location was good, but what a huge disappointment this hotel was. Apart from the staff who clean the rooms (they are lovely), the service was average, the complimentary breakfast was a truly awful experience (we went out for breakfast everyday instead) and the room was dreary. This was our first visit to NYC and based on the noise level outside at night, I would definitely not recommend staying in the Midtown area - I was woken up every night. Downtown or Uptown is a much better option. Although this wasn't the hotels fault, the water was turned off three times during our stay, which also didn't enhance the experience.
Loved NYC, just not the hotel.

Dear Michele F,
Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear that you were not overall pleased with your stay. The street we are located on is very busy at night as many of the restaurants and bars are open 24/7. There are some quieter rooms facing away from the street or higher floors. We do our best to honor such requests. Our staff is continually trained to be as friendly and helpful as possible, so we’re sorry to hear that most of them were “average.” We’re sorry breakfast was not to your liking. We try to provide as much variety as possible and continually reevaluate our offerings to see where we could make improvements. We also have an extra room adjacent to the main breakfast room with a few extra tables and chairs for when it gets too crowded.
We sincerely apologize for the water. Though it was not in our control, we regret the inconvenience it caused all our guests.
We hope you will give us another chance in the future. The majority of our guests are very happy with their stay. We provide a great value in a very convenient location.

We stayed at NYMA from October 3rd to October 6th. We were absolutely thrilled with the location....Empire State Building right around the corner....Broadway and Times Square a short walk away....the PATH subway to Hoboken a 5 minute jaunt around the corner....Macy's right around the corner and much more. It was a very central location. The hotel itself was clean and the staff were friendly. The elevators were a bit slow - only two for the entire hotel, but we never waited more than 2 or 3 minutes to go up or down. The room (a corner room) on the 15th floor - away from the elevators is a must - was quiet, spacious and nice. The beds and bedding were terrific and we slept very, very well. Breakfast - which is included (a great perk) was fine....bagels, toast, coffee, juice, pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt etc We were able to fuel up nicely for a great day of walking in the city. The breakfast area is small and crowded, but we (my husband, 11 year old daughter and myself) didn't find this to be a problem...had we needed to, we would have just gone back up to our room to eat - no biggie. There are two computer terminals in the front foyer for guests to use and we found this helpful.

All in all it was a great stay and we will absolutely stay at this hotel the next time we're in the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room 10 floors or higher to avoid street noise....ask for a room away from the elevators...

Just came back from a one night stay at the Nyma.
The location is fantastic and very close to Empire State, Penn station, Macy's and 5th av.
Downside is that is located in Korean town and the smell around the street is not that good. We did not bother with this as we were always out as good tourist.
Room is simple but very clean, free and fast wi fi, check in and out fast, breakfast is much more than you expect for the price you pay: bread, cereal, fruits, juices, etc. perfect for our family of 4.
They do not have parking at the hotel but they have an agreement with a close garage where you get a discount as a hotel guest.
Have been in hotel for 2 y ago and certainly will return in my next trip to NY

This hotel is in Korea Street which is right in the Heart of Manhattan. It is like going to the Far East, just turning into a lane. In fact shops restaurants, etc. are all Korean, while as soon as you leave this short lane, you're back in the USA.
It is very close to an Underground station and even getting to JFK by public transport from there was not that difficult. you also save 40/50 bucks on taxi.
The price was convenient considering the wonderful position (The Empire State Building is 2 minutes' walk), even if the rooms are small.
Breakfast is dull and you have it in a few overcrowded small rooms. The staff is efficient, but the atmosphere there is a little bit impersonal.

My husband and I have never been to NYC, so we were already very excited about our brief stay. We had planned an Amtrak train trip from Chicago to NY, spending the night and then taking another train back to Chicago.

We would be in the city for less than 12 hours but knew that we would need a hotel close to Penn Station that was reasonably priced and did not have bed bug issues.

nyma seemed to be the winner on all counts, so we made our reservations.

Upon arrival, AFTER we checked in, while we were waiting for the elevator to our room, we noticed a photocopied sign on the wall, and the same one in the elevator from the city. Oh, look, the hotel's water was scheduled to be turned off for up to 12 hours. Naturally it was on that very night that we were staying there.

Again, we were not told of this at check it or even before by text message or email. The water was scheduled to be shut off by 9pm, at this point it was close to 7.

Our train the next morning was scheduled to leave before 7am, so we would miss out on free breakfast the hotel provided its guests. We figured we had time to shower before meeting up with friends for dinner.

Except that we both spent dinner wondering where in the neighborhood would have public bathrooms for us to use since you know, your water was shut off and YOU DID NOT INFORM ANYONE.

Upon returning from dinner, we talked to the clerks at the front desk and what they told us was astounding.

"I cannot help you." Wait, you expect us to pay quite a bit of money for a really nice hotel, toss up water shut off notices, and then do not offer to either give us a discount or put us up in another location?

What were you telling the rest of the guests in the hotel? Were you telling EVERYONE staying there that they had to find somewhere else to pee and take showers for 12 hours?

And your response to the above? "I do not know". What you did not know what you were going to tell the rest of your guests or you did not know how you were going to handle it?

My husband and I have been in the customer service industry for over 20 years and quite honestly we were both rendered speechless over our treatment. We will not be staying at any of your hotels again.

Oh and one last thing....LOVED the bottle of water you left for us to use. That was real classy.

Dear KimBHayes,
Thank you for your review. We sincerely apologize for the situation you had to deal with when you visited New York. We understand the frustration you must have felt. Unfortunately, we had no control over the water situation. We’re sorry if you felt the front desk agents did not handle the situation correctly. They work very hard to ensure that guests have a great stay and are trained to be as friendly and helpful as possible. In this situation, they could not do anything more to help.
We encourage you to give us another chance on your next trip to New York. The overwhelming majority of our guests are very happy with their stay and many become repeat customers. Guests return because of the location, service, and overall value they receive when staying with us. We hope to welcome you again in the future.
