Stayed at the NYMA for a week in October. The hotel staff are very helpful and courteous. The location is fantastic and within walking distance from many tourist attractions and subway stations. A continental breakfast is available from 6-10 am and has a pretty good selection. Our stay averaged $255/ night. Only issues was the elevators can be quite slow at times. I would recommend to any tourists looking to stay in Manhattan.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing 32nd street on the north side of the hotel. You may get lucky and have a gr...

Great location. Continental breakfast was convenient. Some elevator problems, with one of two elevator out of service for a period of time. Room was comfortable and quiet. Also recommend the VU bar on the roof top of the La Quinta inn across the street and down the block for drinks.

We stayed here for four nights (Friday to Monday) and overall were very happy the hotel. For New York it is considered a budget hotel; our stay averaged $260/night.
It's all about location: the subway is around the corner, major bus routes are a block away, the Empire State Building is a two-block walk.
The hotel was very well maintained & clean throughout. All the staff were professional and polite.
Our room was very small with a (king) bed, a desk & chair and a dresser - very tight on space. But the bed was very comfortable and the room was quite quiet. Down duvets, fluffy towels.
Nothing special about the included breakfast: fresh fruit, cold cereal, bagels, toast and doughnuts, coffee and juice; all self-serve and on disposable dishes. The breakfast room gets crowded but guests come and go quickly.
Note that there is no fridge in the room to store your own drinks/snacks. There is a 24-hour coffee/tea self-service area with seats & a large-screen tv. It's a short walk to all kinds of restaurants.

Room Tip: Avoid the second floor where the breakfast room is; it'll be noisy in the morning.

I have visited Manhattan many times and have stayed in hotels from Midtown to the upper West side. I chose this one for its position and for its appearance (I viewed it last year while on my way back to the hotel where I was then staying).
It was spotlessly clean ~ the Reception area, the bedroom, the breakfast room and the seating areas where free coffee, tea and hot chocolate could be enjoyed.
The beds were very comfortable and clean linens were available whenever requested.
The breakfast consisted of a selection of breads and bagels, doughnuts, cereals, yoghurts and fruit ~ nobody could fault the selection. Other reviews cite the lack of space in the breakfast room... my daughter and I always found a space whatever time we went down.
The hotel is ideally situated for all the main attractions and shops.
We shall definitely be going back!!!

First time stay ( usually stay at it's sister hotel La Quinta across the street). but will definitely return. Rooms are quiet and our window overlooked a deck/garden of another building. Hotel is is Koreatown which is always crazy but full of 24/7 restaurants, near all subways, penn sta, etc. -elevators are slow and crowded so ask for a room on a lower floor. Free wifi is spotty, breakfast is basic but free so I'm not complaining. Room sizes are avg for NYC but decent. The cost before tax.etc for my room was about $250 with aaa discount. When taking the stairs down to the lobby you end up on the street which is a little strange.

Room Tip: We liked room 409. Quiet and overlooked a deck/garden. Also a lower floor so you don't have to w...

Location was good, but what a huge disappointment this hotel was. Apart from the staff who clean the rooms (they are lovely), the service was average, the complimentary breakfast was a truly awful experience (we went out for breakfast everyday instead) and the room was dreary. This was our first visit to NYC and based on the noise level outside at night, I would definitely not recommend staying in the Midtown area - I was woken up every night. Downtown or Uptown is a much better option. Although this wasn't the hotels fault, the water was turned off three times during our stay, which also didn't enhance the experience.
Loved NYC, just not the hotel.

Dear Michele F,
Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear that you were not overall pleased with your stay. The street we are located on is very busy at night as many of the restaurants and bars are open 24/7. There are some quieter rooms facing away from the street or higher floors. We do our best to honor such requests. Our staff is continually trained to be as friendly and helpful as possible, so we’re sorry to hear that most of them were “average.” We’re sorry breakfast was not to your liking. We try to provide as much variety as possible and continually reevaluate our offerings to see where we could make improvements. We also have an extra room adjacent to the main breakfast room with a few extra tables and chairs for when it gets too crowded.
We sincerely apologize for the water. Though it was not in our control, we regret the inconvenience it caused all our guests.
We hope you will give us another chance in the future. The majority of our guests are very happy with their stay. We provide a great value in a very convenient location.

We stayed at NYMA from October 3rd to October 6th. We were absolutely thrilled with the location....Empire State Building right around the corner....Broadway and Times Square a short walk away....the PATH subway to Hoboken a 5 minute jaunt around the corner....Macy's right around the corner and much more. It was a very central location. The hotel itself was clean and the staff were friendly. The elevators were a bit slow - only two for the entire hotel, but we never waited more than 2 or 3 minutes to go up or down. The room (a corner room) on the 15th floor - away from the elevators is a must - was quiet, spacious and nice. The beds and bedding were terrific and we slept very, very well. Breakfast - which is included (a great perk) was fine....bagels, toast, coffee, juice, pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt etc We were able to fuel up nicely for a great day of walking in the city. The breakfast area is small and crowded, but we (my husband, 11 year old daughter and myself) didn't find this to be a problem...had we needed to, we would have just gone back up to our room to eat - no biggie. There are two computer terminals in the front foyer for guests to use and we found this helpful.

All in all it was a great stay and we will absolutely stay at this hotel the next time we're in the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room 10 floors or higher to avoid street noise....ask for a room away from the elevators...
