Location wise, the Red Roof Inn in Manhattan is perfect. Room was quite boxy, but by NYC standards has to be considered spacious.
Clean, basic and comfortable, great wifi fast internet connection in the room for free. Would go there again
Only one thing is not that great: the breakfast room is too small, not enough tables for all the customers, food was quite ordinary, not bad, but ordinary.

Dear Guest:
Thank you so much for your kind words. We appreciate you taking the time to write to us. The rooms at our hotel are similar in size to most hotel rooms in NYC. Nevertheless, we are sorry to hear that you found them a little small. Besides, our breakfast is complimentary and includes lots of food to start your day (cereals, fruits, orange and apple juice, bagels…). We are sorry to hear that you found it ordinary. Thank you again and we hope to see you soon again at the Red Roof Inn Manhattan!
With warm regards

Had a great stay at this hotel. The staff (especially Kerman) were responsive to any request. The room was great and location very convenient. Will go back again.

Made a search at Tripadvisor by ranking, selected this hotel based on location and recommendations. On a hotel web-site I found a good offer, so overall it has been the very good ratio between price and quality.
As mentioned by others the location is perfect, it is easy to walk around / to travel by subway. Other comments:
- MVP Bus leaves for DC in front of Penn Plaza, 7 mins walk, arriving same place. We checked-out, left luggage (for free, only tips) at the hotel before bus. Then in a few days we returned back, had a few hours before flight so I decided to go to the hotel and ask them storing the luggage again. It worked perfectly, only a few dollars was asked to be paid. Very convenient.
- we stayed at the 17th floor, no really noise from outside, have to admit that you can hear all the time elevator and ventilation noise, not killing at all, but for very sensitive person ask a room at least next corner after elevator.
- when we checked-in a receptionist didn't look very friendly, but when checked out and next visit storing luggage - other receptionists were OK
- breakfast is simple, but fresh
- wi-fi worked well on iPod
- room was big enough, cleaned daily
- announced free calls within the US (didn't try though)

I would say it's good 3 stars hotel by European measures. Certainly recommendened to others.

After Search and looking a lot of hotels this was the best in price, location and amenities.

The locatios is the best, in mid manhattan, betwen 5th and 6th AVE. near Macys, Manhattan Mall, a lot of restaurants, near Times Sqare and just 1 block from Empire State. Near a Metro Station. and Korea Town is a safe place

The room are small, but comfortable, quiet, big bed, with refrigerator, microwave, coffe machine, security box, plasma tv, internet. the bathroom is clean and you have a lot of towels. And if you are lucky you could find a room whit a great view: The empire State building.

Its one of a few hotels that bring continental breakfast, and its good, but the room is small, and sometimes you Can't find a table, but you could take the breakfast to your room.

The elevators are slow, and sometimes you need a lot of patien.

The people in the front desk not always are so nice, but they help you if you ask.

I was really surprised at how nice this hotel was given the modest price. The rooms were big relative to other New York hotels. The price was right. The elevators were a little slow and one of them smelled for some reason but our room was nice and seemed pretty quiet. The neighborhood, Korea-Town, seemed really safe (Korea-Town is just a block or two of largely Korean businesses). We liked it and would recommend it for others.

My mother, sister and I stayed here in June of 2008 and would go back in a second. The location was fantastic. It was in a great spot for walking to the sights and there is a subway stop at the end of the street. The continental breakfast served is one of the best continental breakfasts I have ever had. It wasn't just donuts, bagels or pastries. There was cereal, bagels, fruit, hard boiled eggs etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful. One thing to keep in mind is that if you are driving yourself the parking garage is before the hotel. After checking in we had to drive around the block which took quite a while since it was around 4pm when we arrived. Its the only parking garage on the street so I would recommend stopping there first and then going to check in. It will save you some valuable sight seeing/shopping/eating time!

I was there with 35 graduating students from our School of Architecture, Aristotle University of Thesaloniki, Greece and we enjoyed 10 unforgettable days. Since I am guiding this educational trip every year for 10 years now and we have stayed in various hotels (the students themselves organize the whole trip, I am only taking them around to visit important buildings, since this is my topic) I can tell you that for the first time I felt at home :
Scale of the building (only 170 rooms),Kind and smiling persons (from the check-in desk to the cleaning people), decent breakfast, clean and tide rooms and bathrooms, plus many other amenities (free wireless internet access, complimentary daily newspaper, free local calls, etc.).
The location of the hotel (32nd Street and 5th Avenue) is also perfect.
The proof that all the above is true comes from the fact that I demanded from students to book this hotel for the trip of this year!!! We will be there from April 21, 2009 up to April 30, 2009.
