The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park
Ranked #34 of 469 Hotels in New York City
Certificate of Excellence

The service at the Central Park Ritz is impeccable and friendly, as it is in every Ritz we have visited. The location is central and perfect as well, if you don't mind being in a busy and touristy section of the city. The only problem here, really, is that this Ritz doesn't measure up to others we have been to in San Francisco, Boston, Naples, etc. Especially the food in the club lounge, which is definitely not great. If you have a room overlooking the park, it may be worth the big bucks. But with all the great hotels in New York, why not save a couple of hundred dollars and stay at the Essex House (just down the block, same Central Park view), or the Mark, in a lovely and quieter residential neighborhood.

My daughter and I recently stayed at the Ritz Carlton on Central Park and the service was just amazing. Everyone went out of their way to do anything they could for us. We had access to the club lounge which was just amazing. Great small plates of food throughout the day, great service and a lovely view of Central Park. We wanted two queen beds so we had to take a room with a "courtyard view." which means basically a view of an airshaft and another building, but we were told about this ahead of time so we knew what to expect. The rooms with the 2 queens are not on the park. Nonetheless it was a beautiful room with a great Ritz bathroom. This really is a great hotel!

Room Tip: The rooms with two queen beds are on the back side with no view.

We recently did a multi centre holiday to New York, Toronto, Niagara Falls and Washington DC to celebrate one of us turning 40 and this hotel was the first stop, and best hotel of our trip. We paid extra and upgraded to the club lounge and this was a very wise decision and really enhanced our experience. For an additional $100 a day (don't forget to add the tax to that) for the two of us we were able to have breakfast (07:00 - 11:00), lunch (12:00 - 14:00), afternoon tea (14:30 - 16:30), Hors D'Oeuvres and cocktails (17:00 - 19:30) and evening desserts and cordials (20:00 - 23:00). We found that the food was of a very high quality and included plenty for non meat eaters and the drinks were also very good and even included champagne within the price. The club lounge is located on the second floor and gave excellent views of the entrances to Central Park.
All staff that we encountered during our stay were helpful and pleasant - from the doormen, to waiters and the concierge.
Our room was of a very good size but we didn't have a view (but then we didn't pay for a Central Park view). It was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. A nice touch was the books in the room which included a pictorial history of New York and photos of Central Park. The bathroom had a bath and a separate shower - the only hotel that did during our trip. Another nice touch was that the hotel acknowledged that this was a special trip and sent up a birthday cake for me.
Location wise this is a good hotel for access to Central Park and walking distance to Midtown. There are couple of Metro stops near the hotel which makes it easy to get to other parts of Manhattan i.e. Battery Park.
Overall this was a very enjoyable stay in luxurious surroundings and we cant think of anything that could be improved upon.

Room Tip: Seriously consider paying the extra and having access to the club lounge

The last stop of a tour of the East Coast, with very tired teenagers in tow. We were treated wonderfully well, the doormen in particular were fabulous. The concierge were impeccable and couldn't assist us enough. The location was ideal for the skateboarding son to go and skate in Central Park, and of course to visit all the highlights of New York.

We were upgraded to a gorgeous room overlooking Central Park but everything about the hotel oozed class. The service was impeccable, you could choose which type of pillows you desired and we were even given chocolate covered strawberries as it was our honeymoon. Not cheap but even if you just splurge for one night it's worth it-definitely upgrade to a park view room.

it was spring, and it was chill.. This hotel provides enough facilities for me doing business in new york. I love the restaurant and the room where i stayed. The staffs are friendly and very helpful. The location are also strategic, i only need to cross over the main road to go to central park.

My room on the 22nd floor overlooking the park was breathtaking as the 12 inches of snow began to fall. The bellman were so helpful in getting me to my meeting but the sidewalks were frozen. When I returned the just grabbed my frozen self and carried me in! Yes! I love them! The club lounge was amazing as it should be and enjoyable to watch out the windows. I had an amazing massage. Customer Service was at the top of the scale! I love Ritz Carlton and this is only a few reasons why!
