“Great Hotel tucked away, brilliantly located - just right!”
Reviewed 12 March 2013

The Park South Hotel is located in the Murray Hill area of Mid Manhattan,on East 28th and Lexington Ave. This is a classic boutique Hotel, in an 18th century Brownstone building, truly lovely. The staff are helpful and friendly. We asked for a few tips on eating out and other local amenities and the reception staff couldn't do enough for us, drawing on their own local knowledge as well as printing off information for us from the Internet. A special mention to "Chuck" the doorman, he was always friendly, funny and again as the other staff, really helpful. The rooms are on the small side compared to British standards, however the room we had was on the top floor with massive windows, with great views, comfortable queen sized bed, good air con, fridge, coffee making facilities, good sized bathroom, towels were changed daily and the whole place was scrupulously clean. The only negative a can give is the hanging space for clothing is quite small, a larger wardrobe would be an advantage.
The hotels in New York are usually room only, unless of course you go for the high end ones like The Ritz Carlton, however, the Park South is one of a few that does breakfast at no extra charge. The breakfast is served in the bar area that is also known as the Black Duck Restaurant at night. This consists of a good selection of fresh bagels, rolls, cheeses, eggs, jams, coffee, teas and juices. This is just fine to set you up for a mornings sightseeing.

This was my first trip to New York, if fact it was a special trip for me, New York,my dream place, where I have always wanted to visit, so my husband took me for my birthday. The whole experience was wonderful, visiting the sights, seeing the well known buildings, and the little known ones and experiencing the unbelievable food portions they serve!!.
Ground zero was an amazing experience, a really lovely quiet and peaceful little church around the corner, welcoming all denominations. Messages of condolance were left, people gathering to remember, putting all into perspective.

The hotel is within walking distance to the Empire State Building, Macy's, Maddison Square Garden,Times Square, Grand Central Station, etc.
We stayed for 1 week, we were told that 3 days would be enough, don't you believe it, a week wasn't enough. Loved the whole experience, I believe the Park South Hotel played a large part in our enjoyment. We will go back to New York and to this hotel, and yes would recommend it to anyone, a good hotel for families, couples and for business.
I would also definately recommend this hotel to first timers to New York, after all, we were, one of those first timers.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor, corner ones are larger and offer great views.

The Park South is a true hidden gem of a hotel. Located in Curry Hill - where the city's best Indian / Turkish restaurants are found, this hotel is just great. Small enough so that they staff come to know you after a stay or two....big enough to have a variety of cool rooms to choose from.

I travel to NY on business every 6 weeks or so, and the Park South is easily my favorite place to stay. The rooms are good sized by NYC standards, and always clean and well cared for.

They have a cool bar / restaurant with good drinks and apps and free Jazz 1 or 2 times a week. They have a small, but clean gym. Good room service and everyone from the reception staff to door men and bell hops are very very accommodating.

You can easily find a cab by walking right outside the front door (there is a cab relief station directly across) - a great bodega for a late night snack or bottle of water 5 steps away - the best Paan in the city next to that - and the best place in NYC for a lamb or chicken rotti just a half block away.

I have stayed at the Park South 5 times - for business and a few other times for pleasure just in the last 18 months, and it continues to hit the mark every time.

Don't judge by your first look. Situated on E28 and Lexition. A few blocks walk from main attractions in NYC (Empire state, Chrysler ). Rooms were of average size with ensuite. Spotlessly clean. We stayed on the ground floor, room 112 and the noise of the ac was crazy. It has wifi in all the rooms. Staff were very friendly. It cost us $40+ tip from JFK in a shuttle bus. I have marked sleep quality as poor but it's only because of the AC units. Would recommend for seasonal visitors but not for first timers to NYC. This hotel also has a gym if you fancy a workout.... But the walking was enough of a workout for me. Enjoy your stay, you could do a lot worse

Room Tip: Don't stay on the ground floor if you can help it.

Upon arriving the hotel doesn't appear to be in the nicest of locations but that soon dissapeared out of our minds once we got used to the area. We felt very safe at all times and it is within easy walking distance of the Empire State, Macys, Times Sq, Grand Central, Chrysler and other attractions. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and no question seemed to be a problem to them. The lobby area is comfortable although maybe not a place you'd spend long in. The restaurant/bar was again lovely. Breakfast was free and had a nice selection of Euopean Continental, always well stocked. The bar closes after breakfast and doesn't open again until 4 which isn't too problematic as i'm sure like us you'll be out all day! Lovely environment in the eveing and a nice cozy fireplace, there was free refills on soft drinks which was a nice addition! The room was on the small size but adequate if you're not spending much time in there. More hanging space would have been nice but again not problematic. I found the bed quite hard, but the pillows were lovely and our room was cleaned to a high standard every day. There is some work going on inside the hotel which caused a few delays waiting for the lift, but we had a letter left for us explaining about this and a lovely complimentary bottle of wine. The doormen were very helpful and kind. All in all not a 5* hotel however it was more than adequate and I would definately stay here again if ever in NYC!

I stayed here as the leader of a group who were stopping for one night. The reception were a little slow at booking us in, but after that things were great. The room was a little on the small size but had everything I needed, including a robe! There's no room to lay toiletries out but as I was only stopping one night this didn't matter. The hotel is in a great location and convenient or most of manhattan. Breakfast was delicious with plenty on offer. I would stop here again.

The hotel was well located but must have the slowest elevators I have encountered. My room was very small and the wardrobe a joke. The shower room was too small. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly but there were no real lounge areas for use as the front lobby was very cold and quite dark. the bar area after breakfast was given a full clean so was no use to sit in until it opened at 4pm. The hotel rooms were undergoing phased refurbishment so there was dust in the lifts and on the landings. The construction workers had to use the elevators so this contributed to long waits in the lobbies.

Room Tip: Ask about the room size before you book

This was our 4th stay in this hotel and again we were not disappointed. We get an excellent rate and room upgrade during February. Staff friendly and welcoming, great location near Grand Central Station and many restaurants. Room was large, bed comfy and very clean. Safe in the closet, which was a nice feature. We could have used more space in the bathroom to lay out our cosmetic items. Bar downstairs good music (we heard jazz trio) and good stiff drinks. Breakfast was abundant with many choices. We will be back again!
