“Excellent Chinese Food”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

We went for dinner here after reading an enthusiastic review in the New York Times. The food was outstanding and healthy - a rare feat for such restaurants, which tend to load up on the oil and MSG. The service was professional and friendly, and the restaurant was busy on a week night. We loved the General Tso chicken, and we had a beef and shrimp dishes that were crispy and delicious. The hot and sour soup was way too hot, so, if you can't handle hot food, get something else.

“Excellent Hunan food right here in New York City”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

My wife and I love Chinese food, having been to China a number of times, as well as always being on the look out for authentic Chinese food- especially spicy Chinese food - here in New York City. There are a number of very good Sichuan restaurants, but this is the first real Hunan restaurant I have found outside of Flushing Queens. The food is really good, the service is great, and the prices are reasonable, especially for the location. The restaurant is nice and clean, but low key and not fancy. They have the standard American Chinese dishes too if that's what you're looking for.

“Fresh and tasty and good price but”
Reviewed 7 April 2014 via mobile

I got exactly what I paid for. Cheap noodle plate that was made with fresh veggies and fresh chicken breast strips. Very favorable.
But I really had to look hard to find those veggies and chicken. I will definitely try this place again with higher level plates.

“Great lunch place”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

Stopped in for a quick lunch between meetings recently.

Luckily we got there around 11:30, before the lunch rush made it in. We were among the first to be seated, but by the time we left around 12:40 it was completely packed with people waiting. (Always a good sign).

The lunch combos were priced at $9.25 and included entree, rice, and soup.

Started with crispy spring rolls (they were out of egg rolls?). We had chicken with broccoli and General Tso's chicken, the latter being my gauge of Chinese restaurant.

The broccoli in both entrees was extremely fresh and bright green. Overall the taste was good, but I personally prefer a slightly sweeter General Tso's. The Hunan version didn't have any sweetness to it. It was still tasty though.

The wait staff didn't check back often, so had a delay in ordering water.

I would dine here again when in the area.

“Unbelievably delicious and so inexpensive”
Reviewed 11 January 2014

The food is really authentic and freshly prepared. Good service and great value. The Lo Mein noodles with chicken (extra spicy on request) were so delicious we went back a second time for more! Lucky for us they were open on Christmas day for dinner. Can't recommend highly enough. If we had been in NYC for longer I have no doubt we would have made it a third visit. Really easy to find and close to Grand Central Station on Lexington.
