Loved this place. Rooms were on the small side, even though they upgraded us to a king corner room (free upgrade because it was my birthday). Room was spotless, bed was huge and very comfortable, sheets and pillows were soft. The hotel is ideally located near good bars, a convenience store and a short walk to the staten island ferry. Its away from the main hustle and bustle, but only a short walk from the subway. We enjoyed being away from the tourists and in an area where people were working - it felt more real than the manic times square. The breakfast was good and plentiful (continental style), but there are only 3 tables so you may need to make sure you get a table or come back. Staff were helpful and polite. Taxi driver couldn't find it though and we ended up paying 80 dollars from Newark (standard 62 dollars plus toll charges) - I refused to tip him as he drove around Manhatten for at least 30 mins and didn't have a map with him or any clue where he was going! Lovely, small hotel and so much better than a chain.
