“Worth every penny - take this tour!”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

If you want to get a great look at NYC in one day - this is the perfect tour. Our guide, Tom, was incredibly knowledgeable about NY history and facts - then and now. The 9 hours flew by; at no time did we feel rushed - or bored! We were there Easter weekend and took the tour on Saturday. The city was very crowded, but thanks to this tour, we were able to see everything we wanted to see without waiting in horrendous lines.

A couple of tips - at the Empire State Building, make sure you say you have an "express ticket" to all the employees. There are lines in many rooms, but don't stand in ANY of them. Find an employee and show them your express ticket. So, that way you skip ALL the lines - which is a big deal given it would have taken three hours to get up and back otherwise. Regarding lunch in little Italy, we thought the food was good, the place was charming, and we appreciated talking more with Tom and learning about what it's like to live in the city. The food in NY is expensive anyway, so we didn't think $15 was too bad. At the Statue of Liberty, you get to skip one huge line, but still have to stand in some because it is a government run attraction and the security takes time. It wasn't a bad wait, though, and we had plenty of time to go up in the pedestal of the statue and take pictures. At the 9/11 memorial, there was plenty of time to see it. However, to get a true appreciation for everything it stands for, I'd recommend a separate tour for just that. We took one through the 9/11 Tribute Center (http://tributewtc.org/) that was led by someone who had lost a family member. It was incredibly moving.

We are so glad we took this tour and are very grateful to Tom for helping to make our vacation so memorable. If you are in NYC, this is definitely the tour to take and you should request Tom as your guide.

“Whistle Stop Action!”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

This tour is perfect if you want to get a taster of some of the main attractions with a view to re-visiting some of them at a later date. It's a long day that passes very quickly and the guide (Jack for us) was very informative and even quite quite humorous at times. Remember though, don't eat or drink on the bus (we get it Jack!).

Firstly, I was a little disappointed that it was not an open topped bus but as mentioned earlier, you can do that later if you wish.

All of the main sites were excellent and lived up to expectations. Be prepared to push your way through with your Empire State Express pass though as you would just never make it up and back in the time allocated. Liberty was also a great trip and we rounded that off the next day with the free Staten Island ferry trip to get even better views!

9/11 memorial was the highlight for me though for all of the right reasons. What a fitting tribute to those lost souls and a poignant reminder. Only issue here is that we arrived at the end of the tour and by the time we got into the memorial we only had 15 minutes! In my opinion, much longer is needed here, maybe at the expense of time spent at the 'train station'. Tourists wearing cheesy grins taking group photos in front of the memorial pools didn't work for me either. It's a memorial people and inane, toothy smilies whilst posing are totally out of place - in my opinion.

The only gripe I have is the lunch stop at Little Italy. We were told at the start of the tour that lunch would cost $15 at a pre-selected restaurant and that the guide would collect the money beforehand! We arrived at 11.30 (a little early for lunch) and were offered just four choices (not given a menu to look at!) When the food arrived it was mediocre fayre that resembled leftovers from the night before (cold lasagne would indicate such). Not worth 15 bucks despite the guide's claims to the contrary. So, when it comes to lunch, do yourself a favour and politely decline the pre-arranged option. Instead, when you get to Little Italy just have a walk around and find somewhere (lots on offer) to grab a sandwich or pizza slice because the $15 thing is purely a cash cow for the restaurant selected by the (guide?) tour company.

A good day though and Jack's repertoire of historical (in relative terms - London it's not) facts and figures is impressive. Although Jack, as discussed, if you want history get to London.

“This tour made our stay in NYC worthwhile.”

Do not be put off by the 9 hour long tour, the time just flies by, Marc the tour guide was very informative, funny and quite a character. Jack the driver negotiated us through the NYC streets without any fuss.
The tour was conducted in a very professional manner, well worth the money, it is no surprise that this tour is highly rated. In our group each and every one enjoyed the experience.

Well done Marc and Jack.

We were in NYC over the Easter holiday and booked the 9 hour tour for Saturday. When we arrived to board the tour bus, Jack the tour guide informed us that there were 2 million tourist in NYC for the holiday weekend. The tour was amazing and we didn't even notice the crowds because we had express (no waiting tickets for the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty). Jack was so knowledgeable and kept the group together very well. The tours are small groups so they made several stops at many famous NYC sites. Kudos to Gabby the driver for getting us through the NYC traffic with no problem, Also, the tour includes a stop in Little Italy, where we had a fabulous Italian lunch!

“Would recommend this tour as the best way to start your visit to New York!”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

My family and I took this tour on 15 April 2014 and it was the best decision ever! We have 2 teens and a "tween" and they had a blast. Having been shown and informed of so much, it was easy to navigate through the rest of our trip--we knew where to go back to if we wanted. Our tour guide Jack is phenomenal. If you book this tour, request Jack's bus!! You'll walk away well informed and very happy. He recommended Shake Shack---best burger in my life---Heaven in a bun....thank you Jack for making our visit so special!!
