I ended up here because all of my normal hotels were booked or $450 (spring break). Not particularly convenient location for my business meetings, but new and at a good rate. If you are wanting to visit or stay near Chinatown, you are right in it. Very good service. Small but nice bar with good happy-hour and good bartender (Matt). Room is well laid out for its size (small, but almost all rooms in NYC will be small). It was quiet at night. Bathroom has no countertops or anywhere really to put your toiletries (shaving cream, curling irons, etc.). There also is very little storage space, so it might be a problem if you're hoping to stay more than a few nights. The knob on one of the cabinets was broken - I took it to the front desk, had a couple of drinks, went to my room and it was repaired. The open shower is a mess - after my shower the bathroom floor was covered in water. If this were more convenient to my business meetings I would probably stay again despite the bathroom issues. There was no complimentary breakfast, and the restaurant is not a bargain. For the price point you can do a whole lot worse (I have). It's new and clean with above average service.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback of the Wyndham Garden Chinatown. With today's economy, we understand how important it is to offer competitive prices, and we strive to make sure that our service value far exceeds that. We certainly look forward to welcoming you back to the Wyndham Garden Chinatown in the very near future.

I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel. In order to make this a useful review, I thought I would break it down into what I loved, what others might not like but I didn't mind, and the few things I thought could be improved.
First, what we loved: our view was amazing. We were on the 10th floor and north side of the building, and we had a spectacular view of midtown Manhattan, including the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. It was particularly lovely and romantic at night. We also loved how beautifully the room was decorated and the bed was very comfortable. Finally, Chinatown was a great location if you love a truly authentic New York neighborhood that is a real Chinatown still, not a touristy embalmed version. It's also really convenient to the B and D train and fairly convenient to the 6 and the N and the R.
What others might have minded but we didn't: I noticed when I looked at previous reviews that some people thought the rooms were small. While our room was a bit on the small side, I think that's a function of New York hotel rooms and they've done a great job making it much nicer by including a full wall of windows (see above re view). Also, I lived in New York a while ago and so am used to the dirty and crowded streets that you find in neighborhoods like Chinatown. If you are new to New York or to city travel in general, you might find the location a little TOO authentic. Finally, if you are concerned about being able to easily get everywhere in the city, including Central Park or other far uptown places, this hotel may not be as well situated for that. We wanted to hang downtown so this location was perfect.
Some suggested improvements: the shower was really strange--it had no door so water got all over the bathroom floor no matter how much you adjusted the head. I think they could put in a better shower head to avoid this problem. Also, the front desk staff was very nice but not very knowledgeable about the area. When we asked about a breakfast place, they could not recommend a specific restaurant and sent us to Grand Street because "there are lots of breakfast places along there"--which there weren't when we got there.
Overall, I thought this was a very good hotel that could be great if the staff updated their knowledge of the area more.

Brand new hotel in a great location near major roads and subway stops. Rooms are well designed and nicely decorated. Staff is friendly and helpful. Still some kinks in the restaurant but overall a really nice place.

We had a great stay here. We were on our honeymoon so would have been nice to be properly upgraded but for the price, you cannot complain.
Breakfast was good. Rooms were very clean and maintained well. Even the coffee from the coffee machine in room was lovely!
One thing that would have improved our stay is the wifi. The connection was terrible, it would be really good extremely late at night when you guess no one else is on. For a hotel I would have thought they would cater better for wifi ESP in NYC. Tourists always want to get on to check stuff
Will definitely recommend this place!
