“It is a "right" place !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

It is not a luxury hotel but considering standard and prices of New York is a very good choice.
It is right to find a quiet atmosphere in a tall, 55 floors building overlooking the intense empty but revamping space of Ground Zero. But the relatively small hall guarantees the impression not to be in big and busy grand hotel but in a comfortable and elegant urban space. So there is a certain personality in this Hilton, while the rooms are functional and wide.
Service level is good and efficient and there are also a nice indoor pool (not too big) and a gym.
But what gives to this hotel an added value is a perfect location for people business oriented, given the proximity to the financial district but also for the lovers of south Manhattan area (personally I am one of this). And the shoppers fanatics could not find a better location considering that this place is in front of the main city outlet, the legendary Century 21. Very nice to explore it at 7:45 before the arrival of the bunch of people. If you add to these points the fantastic view around and the affordable price you can elect it as one of the best solution to stay in New York.

Very true unbiased opinion. Just got back from NYC, Been here very many times before but never stayed in a hotel as my best friend lived there. When we first arrived the reception staff didn't look very happy and not very welcoming. I had sent an email prior to going and asked if I could organise a bottle of fizz on arrival as my husband and I were taking his mum for her 70th, she'd never even flown before, but nothing. They knew we were sharing a room and when we opened the door the beds were tiny, thought we'd least be given 2 king size beds seeing as it was suppose to be a deluxe, the beds weren't even full sized doubles. My husband and I are average build and we were squashed, didn't sleep much for the 4 nights we were there. The mini bar prices were ridiculous and I'm from London. $5 for a can of soda. They only provided 2 cups for 3 people. The location itself is great, we purposely chose this hotel as we prefer to use the Path rather than the Subway as its much easier to use and understand. 33rd will take you Empire State and a few blocks from 5th Ave, and if you want a picture of the Manhattan skyline, it will take you the Hoboken NJ in a few stops. The hotel was greatly situated next Century 21 store which is another reason we stayed here. Designer gear 60% of the price. I got a pair of converse pumps for £15 and an Adidas sports bag for £6 plus loads and loads of amazing bargains. The location is great the hotel and service could have been better.

Room Tip: The double beds are not double, views are amazing though.

Just returned to Blighty after 4 nights here. Booked the hotel and flights through Virgin Atlantic..the hotel was good.not the most luxurious but very good for location. Manic outside during the week due to it being in the financial district but quieter in the evening and weekends. Close to the Path and Hoboken New Jersey which is a lovely relaxed place to visit...Not many Americans in Manhattan!! Its full of immigrants from all over the world who all seemed a bit stressed ouf and competing against each other for your dollar!! The staff were good and attentive..it needs some money spent on it but I was happy with what I paid for where it was...!!

We participated in the TD 5 Burroughs bike tour and I chose this hotel for location to tour start, and it's amenities for the price. I was very pleased. I had wonderful views from the 38th floor into the city, and into the 911 memorial. Definitely would stay here again.

The view of the skyline from the room is stunning and just that is worth the experience.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable (we had King bed), with a big TV.
The bathroom was ok and clean.
However what left us disappointed was an inconvenience that occurred to us one morning :
NYPC was looking for someone into the Hotel and the reception erroneously sent them to our Room, unannounced and despite this episode lasted just a few minutes as soon as NYPD realized there was an error, we really found not at all professional the whole way this thing was managed by the Hotel.
We got an apology letter from the Hotel Manager, but in the end this episode does not cast a positive light on the experience.
Other things whih I noticed were:
- the cleaning service of the room was ok, but not excellent (we had to ask for soap bars and shampoos because they were not replenished for some days).
- in rooms free wifi was not provided and the Hall (were wi-fi is free) is not really spacious.
- on New Years Eve there was only 1 concierge at the Reception and we had to wait almost 1 hour to be served.

Considering what you pay for the stay, overall service should really be improved.

I like the hotel except a policy. The policy is the non-free breakfast for hilton gold members. They said that you could have continental breakfast, if you have hot foods, a 4$ additional will be charged for each. It is very confused on the first day for me.

This is a nice property overlooking the reconstruction of the World Trade Center property. The rooms are a good size for new york and the views are terrific (we were on the 28th floor). Room price for weekend were fairly reasonable for new york. Like most hotels, the bar and restaurant are overpriced, but there are numerous options within walking distance or a short cab ride.

Room Tip: the higher up the better
