I had recently started enjoying the benefits of a good massage after a tough week or a long workout. I wanted to check out the Nickel mens spa, so I made an early appointment on a Saturday morning.
Upon arrival, I was slightly turned off by the fact that the entrance was filthy with a lot of street debris and I was pretty sure there were a pool of urine by the steps.
Living in NYC, I just decided to ignore it.
I was greeted by a receptionist who invited me to wait by the waiting area for my massage therapist.
My massage therapist eventually turned up and took me into the back room and thats when I thought the place looked a bit unsavory. The interiors looked a bit worse for wear and there were some manicure stations that I thought looked like it was haphazardly set up.
I was then led upstairs where I was told to get ready on the massage table.
I did not like the room I was in as it felt and looked run down. I don't necessarily expect a posh over decorated themed room with the smell of incense wafting through the vents, but this room looked like it was thrown together, like a dorm.
Furthermore I did not think my massage therapist was having an off day as I felt rushed and I certainly did not leave the place feeling any better.
I am not going to spend my money there again, as I have found a better place which I feel comfortable going.
I sincerely hope the Spa has improved since then.
