“Nice addition to NYC hotel offer”
Reviewed 30 January 2013

Stayed for a couple night during the opening month of the NoMad and enjoyed the style of the hotel. Had a corner room, high floor, spacious (NYC wise at least), quiet, and loved the setting and deco, not the usual cold and boring style. Everything was new and shiny, great big shower, cosy feeling overall that's not too common for hotel rooms. Staff was fine, nothing special that i recall. The bar, fireplace and library area are a great plus, very enjoyable. The location ain't my city's favorite but there's nothing wrong with it, quite convenient actually.

This is one of many good hotels in the city. All good things are listed in other rewiews.
The thing they miss is the fact that the staff at this hotel is untrained. The cleaning staff especially. Starting at 7AM they go from room to room and slam the huge wooden doors every minute, making a ruckus and waking up anyone on the same floor. It's ridiculous. The "Do not disturb sign" doesn't mean "don't knock, but by all means feel free to go insane out there." Come on, for what we are paying here (room service charges are outrageous, eg. $24 for 4 pastries? Are you joking? Not even the Ritz..) the staff could learn to close doors gently. It takes only a second and makes everyone's stay much better.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a tub. Avoid the street-side rooms if you want a quieter stay, otherwise you'l...

A pleasant surprise of comfort in the city. Friendly staff, rooms are very tastefully furnished and relatively quiet for the city. Bathrooms are spacious with counter tops which is rare in NYC. Location is great for Manhattan

This hotel is a gem in the Flatiron district. The staff was amazing. Love the warm, cozy décor. Rooms are appointed comfortably, very Bohemian. The restaurant is a stand-out. The bar gets a very busy after-work crowd, and the Library lounge is wonderful to chill out with a Maker's Mark and good friends...but you need to reserve it because they give Hotel guests priority. Definitely going back.

We were on one of the upper floors overlooking the street and it was quiet and comfortable. The clawfoot tub in the room was super relaxing and the sheets and mattress were comfort plus.

Our main criticism was with the shared spaces at the hotel. We were there Saturday and Sunday evenings and could only glance in at the library that was through the restaurant and super popular so full with many people not at the hotel ( they had coats and bags with them). The hotel lobby is very dark, so not particularly upbeat. We actually enjoyed sitting in the lobby of the Ace hotel around the corner more and the coffee roasters shop that's part of that hotel. Because the NoMad is so expensive it's a bit of an older crowd which is fine but somehow seemed to mean during our visit that our fellow guests were not that friendly. The front desk staff were mixed in the friendliness catagory - some very friendly, some a bit snobby- but overall excellent service.

My wife and I spent our wedding anniversary (altogether 3 nights) at THE NOMAD and we truly enjoyed every minute of it! We had a very beautiful and airy Atelier room with Empire State Building view and when we first entered the room we were very happy to find an icecold bottle of champage with a personal note from the manager regarding our anniversary on the table. Perfectly wonderful! The bed including linen are of the highest quality and we liked all the charming details in our room. The French designer Jacques Garcia did a tremendous job designing not only the the rooms, but the hotel foyer, the very cosy Library room as well as the restaurants. We also had a lovely diner at one of the restaurants and our host John David made our evening unforgetable. "The Chicken for two" is the best we ever had and we also never had such tasty homemade bread.
All the staff in general is very charming, professional and helpful. We also did not mind the area where the hotel is located. It's very close to Union Square and we always felt safe even in the evening.
We will be back for sure because our stay at the NoMad was perfect and unforgettable!
