I'm not a fan of zoos in general but this one was disappointing as it is really small and doesn't have any really large animals. The children's petting zoo was cool if you have smaller children.

We have been to many zoos over the years. This was the worst zoo I've ever been to. Even if the red pandas and the snow leopard exhibits had been open, it still would have taken less than an hour to get through. I will say the aviary was cool, but not anywhere close to being worth $12 per adult. Especially when you consider free zoos in St. Louis and Chicago. Central Park zoo is not worth what little time you will spend.

My family and a couple of friends went to the central park zoo on may 25th. We were VERY dissapointed in the zoo. First of all the Polar bear and red panda exhibit were closed, which are 2 large exhibits. Then the tigers were sleeping away from the window to see them, so you saw nothing. There was only one monkey in the monkey exhibit. Basically we paid full admission to see ducks, sealions and a few penguins. Noone in my party was happy, we should have atleast been told that 2 large exhibits were closed before purchasing full price tickets. There were also numerous walkways that were closed causing alot of people in a little space and lots of confusion on where to walk. I was so excited to take my son to this zoo but was very dissapointed.

This was one thing on my 18 yr old son's 'To Do' list and, actually, I was a bit surprised both children really enjoyed it despite it being geared for younger children. It was well-managed, clean and a good selection of animals - although some were quite difficult to see without elbowing small kids out of the way! I wouldn't necessarily recommend this as a 'must do' but certainly as a 'nice to do'.

great zoo for short visit . My 20 month old granddaughter loved the sea lions, penguins, various owls, birds, reptiles, red pandas, tropical forest fauna. The childrfens zoo was hands on, feeding sheep and goats, alapaca, pigs, etc. Quite engaging and perfect for the young and old.A pleasant and somewhat educational 2 hrs., and off to lunch and the rest of NYC..Even got to see the famous clock strike the hour with the monkeys hitting the bell..Some things never change from my childhood.......
