“Great option for business and leisure”
Reviewed 30 January 2012

I can't fault this hotel. Great location, excellent breakfast (cooked and/or continental included in the room rate) very friendly staff and very clean, modern, and quiet room. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would definitely use again. The newspaper outside the door each morning also free of charge was a very nice touch. All in all, a very pleasant stay!

I wasn't able to book the two rooms I needed online. The front desk staff was able to give me exactly the rooms I requested.

Both rooms were nicely decorated with a flat screen TV. The bathrooms were a bit on the small side, but it wasn't an issue for us. The beds were extremely comfortable. We didn't have any problems with the elevators.

The Breakfast included two hot items, which varied from eggs, omelets, sausage, bacon and potatoes. You can also make your own hot waffles. Other items: oatmeal, cold cereal, fruit salad, breads/pastries, fresh fruit and yogurt. The breakfast area is quite large and space was never an issue. Its also very modern looking and very clean. 24 coffee and hot cocoa is a nice amenity.

The hotel also offers a business center with two computers. You have to stand to use them as they are on a counter, which I thought was a bit odd.

The hotel is around the corner from Subway lines F & M, and a short walk to lines 1, 2, and 3.

I would definitely recommend this Hampton!

Chelsea is a great area. Make sure to check out the Chelsea Market, about a 20 minute walk from the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a floor without a noisy ice maker!

Front Desk and bell staff excellent. Checked in early and luggage stored no problem.
Close to subway & Path line, many eateries and much more.
Free WiFi and breakfast made the stay good value. Breakfast OK.
No problems with room, typical Manhattan size.
Only stayed the one night 12/10/11 and should have stayed more.
Would stay again.

First, let me say that I haven't lived in NYC for over 30 years and was only really familiar with the upper east side. I picked Chelsea because it was any area I wasn't at all familiar with, had never even come down to see it in the time I live in NYC and also, because it's close to Soho, Greenwich, Meatpacking District, Tribeca, Canal Street, etc. etc. Totally where the action is.

This Hampton Inn was great. It's not the Hampton Inn you find in the new suburban locations, rooms are a bit smaller. But who cares because hopefully, you don't spend much time there. The front desk staff was great ... they were friendly & helpful way beyond what you'd expect. I had a few mishaps, one of which was losing my wallet. They told me exactly what to do & expect. In the end ... miracle of miracles ... it was returned by the cabbie.

Location wise, it's right between 2 major subway lines and is within walking distance of just about everything. Right across the street is the best flea market (I think in NYC) on weekends, two block towards 5th is Eataly (you can't miss this place, REALLY!)

Oh, the breakfasts were fantastic. Very clean, great food choices, relaxing, comfortable. And quite international. Lots of French being spoken when I was there (and you know how "picky" the French are).

Finally, the price can't be beat for Manhattan. Enough said!

I've found in business travel that Hampton Inns are generally very dependable. This location was no exception - it was clean, nice, and with the exception of the maintenance guy who seemed determined to fix something right outside our room at 6 am two mornings in a row - very adequate. Nothing flashy, but clean, good breakfast, helpful staff, etc. The biggest plus, though, is the LOCATION - perfectly placed in the middle of everything! Highly recommend.

Spent a weekend here in January 2012. The room (2 queen beds) was smaller than the standard Hampton Inn, but then this is NY, and the bathroom was nicely sized with plenty of room to spread things out around the sink - definitely bigger than an Ibis Hotel in Europe. Room on 16th facing floor facing back (toward busier 23rd street) but almost no traffic noise. 24th street is not very busy. Great TV selection (including Logo) and stylish decor. Everything fine in the bathroom. Very friendly staff, standard Hampton breakfast. Two computers in lobby for printing boarding passes. Cab to LaGuardia (using bridge) was only $35 - including a generous tip! Highly recommended and would definitely choose again. Head over to 8th and south and there are many restaurants.

Room Tip: Lower rooms facing the back are probably quietest

My husband and I chose this hotel because it is close to our children's apartment in Chelsea. We visited the city for a week over Thanksgiving and this was the perfect location. Located between 6th and 7th Avenues, it was within walking distance of our children and it was always easy to get a cab in either direction or to use the nearby subway. The hotel itself is not fancy, but pleasant, comfortable and cheerful. The staff was always friendly and helpful; the complimentary breakfast included hot oatmeal, eggs, and other usual fare. Hot coffee and teas are available 24 hours. We requested a room on a lower floor to avoid riding in one of the two small elevators. We were given a room on the front of the hotel two easy flights up a newly painted, brightly lit, pleasantly vanilla-scented stairway. The room was adequately large enough to accommodate our three large pieces of luggage with plenty of room to walk around. It included a very comfortable king-sized bed with fluffy white comforter and soft pillows, a desk and chair along with two bedside tables with wall lamps, a chest of drawers and TV, and a luggage chest with additional drawers. The bathroom was clean and spacious with plenty of towels.
We booked this hotel early knowing we would be visiting during the Thanksgiving holidays. We booked through the hotel itself and received a very low AARP rate.
We were so happy with this hotel and the accommodations that we are planning to stay here every time we visit our children in New York.
