Owner description: Non-profit cinema and film buff's hangout.

Sure, there are grander film emporiums in Manhattan, plush and concession-laden, but for film cognescenti, the path will almost always lead to this harbinger of the latest and sometimes obscure avant-garde film. Count on the powers that be to come up with must-see programs, making you fall in love with cinema all over again. Leave the multiplexes to the gum-snapping masses, find your way here to enjoy the day. Interesting offerings at their concession, mostly baked goods and stellar popcorn, and if not to your liking, tons of Village eateries and beer halls nearby.
Chill out here, forget your troubles- Film Forum will fuel your cinematic fantasies!

I live near Lincoln Center, so nowadays it is more convenient for me to visit the Film Society of Lincoln Center at Walter Reade Theater and so forth to get my fix of the cutting edge of film. But Film Forum is always coming up with stuff that pulls me out of my UWS comfort zone and draws me downtown again.

Film Forum does occasionally do first-run films, giving them what is often their only venue in New York City; but what it is best known for is showing art films from all parts of the globe and all periods in film history. I have seen many films there over the year, including premiers of movie's like the Israeli film "Ajami" and the homage to Bob Dyland "I'm not there."

This non-profit film theater shows a variety of classics and experiments in cinema. Not the most comfy seats since they're so small, but very intimate and the kids running it are fun. Great for a raining weekend night in the city.

Film forum is my favorite place to see movies in NY. They show a great variety of old classics and new indies. The audience is always great which make for a more lively an fun experience .

it's also a couple bucks cheaper than most NYC movie theaters.

Saw a film noir double feature that was great. This is a must-visit spot for the film afficionado. Oh, and great popcorn too!
