“As good as ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2011

Manhattan and scorching 100 degree heat is not the ideal combination, but the Gansevoort remained "cool' ....as always.
The service, food, and ambience was right on target.
I've stayed here many times....and have never been disappointed.

First of all, a big thank you for the honesty of the staff working at the hotel; we forgot a large sum of $ in the room upon check-out and received it back after discovering our loss three days later. Hotel is very well placed, good food, rooms are ok. Our Manhattan suite had a lousy sofa bed, unsuitable for decent sleeping. The club on the rooftop attracts a noisy, uninteresting and unsophisticated crowd. Pool is saturated with house music day and night and not a place to relax after a long day walking in the city.

I liked the location & amenities of The Gansevoort  This hotel is popular & busy. Trendy style but it needs some attention. The rooms smell musty.  Hall & room carpets are worn & dirty & need to be replaced.  Some of the furniture is worn out chipped etc. Bathroom sinks need caulking.  Bed sheets were not comfortable. The gym is in a dark basement, spa locker room was not comfortable or clean. Would not return or recommend this hotel until they work on renovating & upkeep.

Amazing rooftop with a pool to relax after a business day, specially during these very hot times.
Rooms are quiet small (avoid those on the side of A/C fans outside).
Great fitness center with SPA (complementary steam and SPA baths), + excellent core fusion classes (charge 25$).
Cocktails and foods are very good. I use to stay fm 5 to 10 days in hotels, and would appreciate more relationship and warmess.
Location of course os great, easy to access everywhere, close by Soho.

Hotel furnishings are well past their best.
Calls to room service would go to voicemail!
When I called housekeeping and said "I'd like my room cleaned", it meant "now", not "at some point, today". This was not understood, there.
Good luck trying to close the window once opened. I nearly broke my hand on the useless old handle. I could have used a hammer.

Lovely people at reception, room service and roof bar. We so much enjoy our stay. Just for future reference you should look at cleaning standards in the hotel, as property absolutely lovely, but it can't survive without looking after.

We went for an overnite refresher from CT. It felt like we were in a small city with Greenwich villiage nearby. Cobblestone streets, cool restaurants with open storefronts. It was like being in Europe. Being a guest at the hotel gets you ahead of the line. This place is a popular hangout during the day with the rooftop pool and at nite as a rooftop bar. very cool. Definitely will be back .Everyone here was better looking than the other.

Room Tip: I checked for best rates online and then called the hotel. They were very accommodating and got me t...
