“Cockroach - Dump - Scam - Do Not Go There”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 November 2008

La Semana Hotel - This is the worst place I have ever seen! they put false publicity on the web!

La Semana Hotel - DO NOT GO THERE!

La Semana Hotel - Toilet door does not close!
La Semana Hotel - Bath in the room! transparent curtain.
La Semana Hotel - if you take the jacuzzi room, well it does not work.
La Semana Hotel - they have heating system on wheels - so it is freaking cold.

La Semana Hotel - some room are on the street side, and there is a bar with 200 people waiting in line at night - impossible to sleep.

La Semana Hotel - look like a place you rent per hour... (even if I have never been to a place like this)

this is outrageous!!!

La Semana Hotel - DO NOT GO THERE. NOT EVEN IF YOU GET PAID TO GO!

Hotels at NYC are generally old, but this place is an ABSOLUTE DUMP! I felt like I was in a 3rd world hostel. DO NOT STAY HERE. I made the mistake of booking this hotel after being fooled by pleasant photos on their website, but what a huge mistake that was!

The sheets and blankets were not clean. The walls were cracked, the ceiling was cracked, and the central vents ran visibly from one room to the next via huge cracks in the walls and ceilings. The bathroom was a sham. No shampoo or toothpaste was provided. The door did not even lock. The bathroom floor and shower tiles were all cracked. A hole was cut into the wall, very near the celing, in which a tv was placed. What a joke! Walls were very thin, and the noise from other rooms could be EASILY heard. Worse of all was the staff, which was composed of unprofessional young adult foreigners who freely smoked and cursed in the presence of guests.

If I ever rented out a room such as the one I stayed at in this hotel, I would be jailed. Likewise, the owners of this hotel should be arrested. DO NOT STAY HERE!

  • Liked — Absolutely nothing. This was the worst place I had ever stayed in all my years of traveling.
  • Disliked — This place was filthy, old, run-down, expensive, and the immature staff.

This was possibly the worst hotel i have stayed in in 10 years! The staff seemed bemused that I had booked and couldn't find any paperwork - they then photocopied my passport and took a credit card payment (couldn't help feeling this was to clone my card).

The first room offered was dark and airless with a huge jacuzzi and smaller bed - lots of noise from fridge and airco. The room I took was like a dark corridor with bed and huge jacuzzi, but quieter. No chair, nowhere to put suitcase, no cups..... Bed was comfortable, however.

In England, this kind of room would normally be charged by the hour! Amazing price $229 - but arrived too late to hunt for an alternative. Expedia have over-rated room before (in my opinion) but this was outrageous.

I just stayed here for the weekend. We stayed in a shared bathroom room. Both the room and bathroom were very clean and we felt very safe. The room was small, with one bed for the two of us (mom and daughter) but we were up early in the morning and returned late at night. There is so much to see and do that we spent very minimal time in the room anyhow. The hotel does smell like smoke but our room did not. The air conditioner worked good. The front desk staff were very friendly and helped direct us to 2 good restaurants right next to the hotel and held our luggage since we had a late flight. The street the hotel is on was very quiet with minimal traffic. This hotel is in a good location right in between 5th and 6th near Madison Square Park (very nice) and Union Square, good shopping very close and Teddy Roosevelt's birth home very close. We walked to Greenwich from hotel. It wasn't the best hotel I have stayed in but clean, good location and price would bring me back.

I travel all the time and understand that NYC hotels overall have a lower standard, but this hotel was the worst place I have ever stayed at. Not worth even bothering looking at it. Dirty, no shower curtain, no windows, air conditioner went out several times, and cramped. Simply put, disgusting and was actually embarrased to be seen walking into the place and left at 7AM every morning because the place skeeved me out.

We booked this hotel directly from the New York phone directory to move from another hotel which was too far from the action. The words "romantic" "hot-tub room" and "sound proofed walls" should have rung bells but didn't!
This wasn't what I'd call a bad hotel or we wouldn't have stayed for 3 nights but it is sleazy and very basic (no breakfast, small rough towels and no windows in the room).
I have to say as a woman the giant mirror scared me (I was convinced it was 2 way) and the fact the security chain on the door was broken unnerved me but we had no problems.
The towels and bedding were changed daily and the room had the basic necessities for a short stay.
Oh, yes the man on reception does watch porn all the time but he is friendly and our reservation was all in order and we had no payment issues.
One big bonus was the HUGE jacuzzi bath in the room, you could fit 6 people in their easily and I have to say for a couple it was great as a romantic extra.

I am not a picky person, but this hotel was the worst I have ever stayed in. It was fairly clean, but we had two towels that had to last us three nights, no face rag or hand towels were offered. There were two roaches we had to kill on the second night. The tv had three working channels. Two of the channels were fuzzy and the thrid channel was porn. I truly think this was a rent by the hour hotel. The staff was uninterested in answering any questions or assisting us in any way. I believe that we were one of maybe two guests in the hotel. I would never stay in this hotel ever again.
