“Upscale, modern rooms in a great neighborhood”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 February 2012

I upgraded to a corner room. It was stylish and comfortable. The staff was neither here nor there. There is no bar or restaurant in the building which was odd; but, there are so many choices within steps of the front door that it doesn't matter. The Murray Hill neighborhood is terrific.

Stayed in on of their Skyline Suites over the Superbowl weekend. What a surprise, huge suite with a separate living room, bedroom, 2 large flat screen TV’s and a sofa-bed for my daughter to sleep in the living room. We were able to get an amazing deal (I guess due to Superbowl weekend) and everyone we encountered was also nice. Highly recommend this hotel.

Returning from a weekend with boyfriend, and we think this is more of a 3.5 star hotel. Large room, lots of closet space, sitting area. Great value. Only complaint is the heater made this loud, annoying sound every 20 min or so. Not too good for a light sleeper!

This was my first stay here. I travel to NYC at least 4 times a year. The Affinia had always been a bit too pricey for my travel budget. But, since it was end-Jan /early Feb (low season) there were terrific rates offered EVERYWHERE.

The location is a bit further from the 'action' of Fifth Ave, Seventh Ave, Times Square, and all of best shopping than I am accustomed to. For my purposes, it was probably 4-5 blocks out of the way. Having said that, the weather was 50-60F and Spring-like, so walking was a pleasure.
The location is ideal for heading back to LaGuardia Airport, as the tunnel entrance is nearby and my Taxi made it to LGA in under 20 minutes (mid afternoon)

First and foremost, the rooms: OMG. The biggest and one of the nicest rooms I have ever had in NYC. I had a King Suite on an upper floor, corner room. The views of the river and city were spectacular. The bed was a KIng and it was so comfortable. Best pillows! And, the washroom perfect. Even good water pressure. And, lots of towels. The Housekeeping was exceptional. The TV was an LCD Flat screen and at least 42". Swivels from Living Room to Bed. Also, a gigantic desk/ work station. And a fully equipped kitchen that I did not use at all, but, some would find this very practical.

Elevators were available and speedy (seldom mentioned but vital to me!)

The Concierge (John?) recommended a terrific breakfast spot around the corner on Lexington called Penelope's....so quaint, and a wonderful spot for fresh cooked, country style breakfast. Pumpkin Waffles and Breakfast sandwiches are stand outs. Had a killer lunch at nearby Brother Jimmy's, a BBQ joint. Also on Lexington.

All in all, no complaints on the property/hotel itself. Wish it were closer to the action (and my office, too) but, a straight shot up to Macy's / Herald Square (4-5 blocks) and Macy's alone is worth the trip to NYC. Esp. this time of the year, scored sale goods at 65% off Reg price!

Room Tip: King Suites are HUGE and have a full kitchen

My company has multiple arrangements with hotels throughout NYC, but there is only one place that I want to stay...the Affinia Dumont. The people there are the best at everything they do...from bell service, desk service, cleaning, health club support...the Affinia has the best NYC can offer. Iris, Karen & Candace at the front desk make you feel like you're "coming home" each time you check in or need anything. Thanks so much for making business travel the best it can be.

Room Tip: If you live in the "burbs" you will want a room away from street noise that does travel up...

This hotel is an amazing find in a city known for offering rooms the size of a walk-in closet as superior accommodations. I believe the room was about 500 square feet with a fully functioning kitchenette tucked away directly across from the bathroom. The bathroom was just fine but the least impressive part of the room offerings. I've already mentioned spaciousness and the desk for working, the flat screen TV, the minimalist furnishings, luxurious linens and comfy bed should complete the picture. The windows offer light when desired and the meshed Roman shades provide darkness at bed time. The hotel lobby is not impressive in size - they used available space for guests. There were 3 functioning computers available thru which to check email or print a boarding pass. And the receptionists, Bellman and staff were all friendly and accommodating. The hotel is no more than 4 -5 avenue blocks from The Empire State Building. If you're visiting to tour the city, I'd probably seek a hotel nearer Times Square for easy access to subways, trains and sites. But if you have been here before, love to be close enough without being in the middle of the city chaos, this hotel is everything and more that you'll need. Business travelers, stay here.

No one knows a New York hotel like a born & bred New Yorker. We have been staying there on business & pleasure for a half dozen years, and this is the only place we go and the only place we send friends & clients. The rooms are expansive, beautifully appointed, with stunning views. The staff is remarkable, attentive, and exceptionally caring. It is quiet, immaculate, and like your own pied-a-terre. The kitchen facilities in each suite or room are thoughtfully equipped. The Murray Hill neighborhood is ideal. The hotel is just steps away from our very favorite city restaurant, Bistango. Why settle for less?

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the views and the less noise from traffic.
