“Affinia DUmont 150 East 34th Street New York”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

The Affinia Dumont at 34th Street NY provides lovely spacious rooms with self contained facilities. The rooms are so well looked after and maintained. The staff, with special mention to Stephanie (reception), Ossia the cognerice, and the 24/7 attending luggage manager who just seemed always to be there and always helpful and friendly to all. The motel is well located just 23 blocks from the Empire State building and a further block or so to all the shops, really close but not so close as to be noisy or crowded. The motel does room sercie but no restaurant, but right next door (part of the building) is the Barking Dog restaurant, great place, brilliant food and very good value highly recommended and open, breakfast inch and dinner and will deliver to the motel also.
Loved the place, we stayed 7 nights, so very very happy, everyone was helpful and lovely.

Room Tip: Tryt to get a high floor (33 stories) we were on 12, no nice view but Ok, in the higher floors coul...

Green Features: fine as far was we could see. The motel has signage and practices that were sound.

We stayed at the Affinia Dumont in September 2013. While we were there we experienced a few personal issues which forced us to extend our stay so we were at the Hotel for over three weeks. The management team, led by the lovely Simone, were amazing. Simone did everything to make things easy and seamless and showed great care and compassion.
We returned in December to spend Christmas in NY. Though incredibly busy we still received personal attention. I must say it was a bit like coming home. From the room service attendant to the doorman it was great.
Juber, the porter/doorman, was great for a laugh and still had a smile on his face after getting our five bags into the hire car in pouring rain the day we left.

Our family of 5 adults arrived on 21 Dec to spend Christmas & New Years in New York City. After 20 hrs travelling from Melbourne it was great to have a very efficient check in. Our 2 rooms were larger than expected and spotlessly clean. Our bags were brought straight to us and when we asked about where to eat nearby we were given several suggestions that were only a few steps from the hotel. The deli on the corner stocks just about anything you could want to eat and the kitchen facilities in the room allowed us the chance to prepare food if we chose to. Just around the corner was the subway that provided access to anywhere in Manhattan. If you preferred to walk the Empire State building was only 3 blocks away and Macy's just past that. I would happily recommend this hotel.

We stayed there the week of Christmas. I was worried that a studio suite would be too small for our family of 4 but everything was booked when I thought of upgrading. It turned out to be fine. A bit cramped with 2 young boys but we managed. We had a corner room that faced SE, nice enough but not super exciting views. Rooms were quiet and clean. Hotel nothing special but solid nice. I am not sure if it was worth the rates we paid for Christmas week but I would consider returning to it.

The subway is close by and yes it is walking distance to some attractions but you need to be prepared for the amount of walking. We had younger children and may consider staying closer to main attractions. They need breaks and this hotel was a bit inconvienent for that.

We ended up forgetting 2 stuff animals in the beds the morning we left. I called them when we got home and they did find one and were mailing it to us, but the other was never found.

Recommend this hotel. The staff, especially Juber, made our stay very memorable. The rooms are very spacious for a family and clean. Having a laundry downstairs was very convenient. The location made it easy to access all areas easily without battling the Times Square traffic.

The hotel was in a great location. We stayed for 5 nights and were upgraded to a studio suite on the top floor with a view of the Chrysler building. When I called housekeeping they promptly responded with towels or pillows. I also redeemed a wine voucher and a bottle of Red from Argentina was delivered which was great. We are breakky each day at the Murray Hill Diner which was around the corner. We also did our laundry at Pure Cleaners which is 50m away. 8 pounds of laundry for $8. Same day - excellent value.

First time to New York with family of 4. Hotel check-in was a breeze! Location was within walking distance to most of the tourist spots and 1 block from subway to get anywhere else. Lots of places to dine within the same block as hotel. Staff was friendly and room was great! Plenty of space with full kitchen.
